Thank you so much for looking after us so well during our recent visit to Huntingtower Lodge. The whole experience was brilliant, we cannot believe the high standard of B&B accommodation you offer your guests! Everything was perfect, the welcome you gave us, your helpful local knowledge, the beautiful room we stayed in, so perfectly furnished and equipped, and then..the breakfasts! They were superb! The menu for breakfast was mouth-watering, delcious, beautifully prepared and served, and all with a fantastic view of the loch. We can\t wait to come again!

Tips:

We stayed in Fort William on our way up to the Highlands, in order to enjoy a trip on The Jacobite steam train, booked three years ago but postponed on account of the pandemic. We enjoyed the trip very much for the wonderful scenery along the route and for the nostalgic enjoyment of being pulled by a steam locomotive.

Peter and wife were extremely kind, we got lots of information for nice tours. Breakfast was excellent, ordered and cooked in the moment. Very very recommendable. Location is very good too, a bit away from Fort William Center so perfect to recover and relax. A very good restaurant is 2 minutes walk from the house and meals were so good and with very good price. I recommend it for sure!!

Peter and Tina are excellent hosts. Extremely welcoming to UK, European and International guests. Very knowledgeable and informative of places of interest in the local area and activities. The homebaking is excellent and tasty.

Tips:

There are many excellent cafes and restaurants locally. The ClanMacDuff Hotel and restaurant is just next door and worth a visit with friendly staff to welcome you. The Nevis Bank and Brown's restaurant is also worth a visit but book early evening as it is a popular place for eating and food is excellent as well as the MacDuff's. Both Peter and Tina are very helpful in relation to things to see and do and regularly provide annotated maps and information about local transport services.

The location was perfect and the room extremely comfortable: ideal as on a rainy evening we decided to stay in the room and watch a film. The food was delicious - mostly very locally sourced - and our hosts could not have been more helpful in providing guidance and maps on places to walk and visit. We particularly enjoyed the woodland walk behind the B&B. A great break, which we would heartily recommend to others.

Tips:

All the information we needed, including maps, was provided by our hosts.

We stayed in the Waterfall Suite and the views are stunning. Spotlessly clean and beautifully set out. The food was absolutely gorgeous, fantastic quality and plentiful too. Our hosts were very helpful indeed and were very happy to provide local information and advice which meant we saw a lot more than we would otherwise have done. From Huntingtower Lodge its so easy to get to The Jacobite and Nevis Range and the boat trips, take in not just the spectacular scenery but wildlife too. We couldn’t be more happy with the choice we made to stay at Huntingtower Lodge and have already recommended this B&B to family and friends.

Tips:

Nearby, at Fort William train station, take The Jacobite steam train to Mallaig. You will need to book. Its truly iconic, going over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Best video and pictures taken using a selfie stick. Nevis Range offers spectacular views from the top of Ben Nevis. Climbs for various levels of fitness, although we took the Gondola and had a walk at the top. You can take your bike on the Gondola for a thrilling descent. The boat tour of Loch Linnhe can be taken from the pier. Really informative and so much to see. Try Crannog seafood restaurant on the same pier for fantastic local fish and seafood.

Oh. My. Goodness…!!! Peter and Tina are the most amazing hosts. Nothing whatsoever was too much trouble. Tina’s culinary skills really wowed us …the breakfast menu was incredible…my favourites were the astonishing Porridge with cream and whisky, anfpd the creamy mushrooms on toast, whereas my husband loved the full Scottish !! Peter’s knowledge of the area (together with his sense of humour) made the absolute most of every moment of our stay. The bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in; so much so that I will be buying the very same mattress for home. Bathroom toiletries were all provided which are fab…we went to the Highland Soap Co. just a few minutes away to bring some home with us !! Views from both aspects of our rooms (we booked the Waterfall Suite) were just stunning, overlooking Loch Linnhe.

Tips:

The whole area is just amazing….we were blown away by the beauty of the scenery. A must do is a boat trip on Loch Linnhe where we learnt so much about the history and current workings of Fort William. Just 5 minutes down the road the Jacobite steam train passes and next door to that are the ruins of Inverlochy Castle and the Highland Soap Company. A walk up Glen Rhee at Inchcree is also a must where the waterfalls are beautiful, and you also have the opportunity to see Red Squirrels. Approx 40 mins away is Fort Augustus where we Loch Ness meets the Caledonian Canal…in our opinion, a must do. Fort William town is very pretty and the bar attached to the local cinema serves lush cocktails at very reasonable prices…be sure to try the weekly special !!

24th September 2021:

We stayed in the Suite located on the ground floor which has its own private car parking space immediately next to its private access to the accommodation. A spacious room divided into a bedroom and sitting area. There are huge windows giving a superb panoramic view of the garden and Loch Linnie. The proprietors have provided a telescope for watching wildlife in the Loch and beyond. The relaxing area has 2 rocking type chairs and a sofa, making “window watching” very comfortable. The super king size bed was extremely comfortable and the fluffy pillows, huge duvet and crisp white bed linen made it a struggle to climb out of bed each morning! Thank goodness there were delicious breakfasts awaiting which encouraged us to get up!!! The en-suite had a good shower, oversized fluffy towels and locally produced toiletries which were amazing! The breakfasts were a relaxed treat, a great menu choice with the “secret porridge” being my favourite! The homemade jams, marmalade and breads were not to be missed. The lovely hosts were Peter, front of house and Tina, the amazing cook etc who cooked to order so everything was tasty and fresh. COVID regulations were strictly adhered to without one not actually being aware of all the cleanliness etc that takes place which made staying really enjoyable at these uncertain times. Masks were worn by everyone in public areas and any used reference books were replaced in certain slots for intensive cleaning. Leaflets and paper maps were disposable items. The Hunting Tower Lodge is Eco chic accommodation with a wonderful wildlife “garden” to the rear - a Pine Martin is a regular visitor along with many species of birds. There’s plenty to do in this spectacular area of The Highlands and by using The Hunting Tower Lodge as a well positioned base enables you to visit a wide area. Peter has a head full of knowledge be it local or farther afield and is happy to impart any information to his guests to make their stay in Fort William 100% Peter and Tina will do anything to help make your holiday with them an amazing experience that you will always remember. They are lovely genuine people and run an amazing Bed and Breakfast which is waiting to greet you!

Tips:

1. The Studio is on the ground floor with private parking and private entrance. 2. Try the “secret porridge” 3. Book a table at Loch Levin Seafood Cafe for an amazing feast. 4. Ask Peter where the best place is to see the steam train as it starts it’s morning journey.

19th September 2021:

From the moment we arrived, when we were welcomed with a nice cup of tea and a homemade brownie, to when we left a week later, everything was faultless. The Guesthouse has its own 6-acre wildlife garden to the rear, stunning views over Loch Linnhe, and a lovely garden with bird feeders. We stayed in the Ardgour suite and it was fabulous; it was spotless, contemporary and spacious, had fantastic views over the Loch, and great amenities such as a fridge, TV with built-in DVD player, giant fluffy towels and toiletries made by the locally-based Highland Soap Company. They pride themselves on being environmentally friendly. This guesthouse is outstanding and we can't recommend it enough, but the very best thing about it are the owners; Peter's knowledge of the area is highly impressive and he recommended some fantastic things for us to go and see/do. Tina was just as friendly and makes the best breakfasts! Both of them were so hospitable and friendly and we can't thank them enough. This place is outstanding and we will definitely be back again.

Tips:

It's a 40-minute walk in to town (or 5-minute drive) which gives you plenty of time to take in the stunning scenery along the way, and is a fantastic place to base yourself if you want to explore the surrounding areas. We managed to pack so many things in to our fantastic week, including beautiful scenic drives to Glencoe, across the peninsula to Sanna Bay, and up to Loch Ness, and also had lots of days out, including the Isle of Mull, taking the gondola cars up to the Ben Nevis Range for walking, Kayaking in Arisaig, and the Jacobite steam train to Mallaig, not to mention the number of stops we made to hike to waterfalls etc.

29th August 2021:

Wonderful property in a wonderful location. Rooms were exceptionally clean and furnished and our room (The Waterfall Suite) could not be faulted in anyway. Our friends had The Studio which I understand was equally good. Fantastic introduction when we arrived from Peter and Tina and by the end of our 2 night stay we felt as if we were part of the family! Breakfast was served in a lovely room overlooking the Loch and that porridge Peter has made me look at porridge in a totally different light!! We all loved your Scottish shirt and trousers at breakfast too!! Great tips for watching the 'Harry Potter' (Jacobite) train from Fort William to Mallaigh at a location better than you would ever expect. Peter and Tina are obviously very enthusiastic and passionate about their B&B and rightly so. Nice touch with the DVD options if you wanted to watch anything. Only wish we had perhaps had an extra day as would have liked to explore the 'wildlife' in the trail at the back of the garden. Thank you for a wonderful stay as part of our 'Highland Adventure'

Tips:

Just make sure you book all evening meals in advance! We ate at Crannog and The Stables. Was a little disappointed with Crannog as felt it was overpriced for what you got. Felt rushed and although in a lovely location by the Loch, seating is not quite as picturesque as some photos show. Depending on where you sit you either have no view as seating is on the inner part of the restaurant, one side is right by the departure area outside for the boat trips so you have people right by your window queuing or eating so feel a bit like being in a goldfish bowl. If you can, suggest you ask to be seated towards the back of the restaurant with uninterrupted views overlooking the Loch. We had to go for an early dining of 6.00 as no other option despite booking well in advance and found far too many children in the restaurant (some just running around) for our liking but thats just us. Food was good but overall experience not quite what we had hoped. The Stables was excellent however even if a little off the main thoroughfare. Do appreciate a lot of the restaurants have only just opened with limited staff etc so some understanding perhaps needs to be given... We did the train journey from FW to Mallaigh on the regular Scot Rail service which was fine and a fraction of the price of The Jacobie. There really is very little to do in Mallaigh (although a second hand book shop has just opened) but I would suggest that people consider doing the one hour wildlife or similar boat trip in Mallaigh if they have time and the weather is good and does guarantee to get you back in time for your train. Lovely room and very nice breakfast - would highly recommend the Stornaway Stack. The view onto Loch Linnhe from the lodge was beautiful. We have no hesitation in posting a 5* review for this fantastic luxury B&B. Tina and Peter are friendly, attentive, informal, informative and great fun. The accommodation (Waterfall Suite) was spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean with views over Loch Linnhe to the front and lovely garden and woodland to the rear. The Breakfast choices on offer were fantastic and would cater for all needs. You MUST try the Porridge! I had it for 3 days of our 6 night stay. The location is perfect too, only a few minutes into Fort William with plenty of decent choices for evening food. Tina and Peter were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble with Maps and recommendations produced each morning to assist us on our days out. There is also a handy drying room available for wet clothing and boots etc. Thanks for a truly memorable stay!

Tips:

So many things to see and do. We hired excellent E-bikes for the day and cycled all day through Glen Nevis and the surrounding area. Can't recommend 'Off Beat Bikes' highly enough. Superb. We had an equally memorable day out across the Corran Ferry, driving through Glens and past Lochs and so many memorable beach and woodland vistas to the White sand beach at Sanna. Also recommended are trips to: Arisaig via Glenfinnan (and the famous Harry Potter viaduct) Glencoe and Glen Etive and of course Glen Nevis and Ben Nevis.

Peter & Tina are wonderful hosts that put you at ease the moment you walk through the door, Peter is full of advice and information for trips out ,and is that thorough, supplies you with maps to help you with the route. Your also given a fantastic choice for breakfast ( the Stornaway stack is highly recommended ) with plenty of homemade goodies on offer. Peter and Tina are also environmentally-conscious and wildlife friendly . All in all , my wife and i had a wonderful stay and would definitely go back. And if your very lucky , Peter may do his owl impressions for you 😁.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Superb hosts in Peter and Tina. Spotlessly clean and quality products used throughout. Immaculate, high quality bed and bedding and towels. Fabulous breakfast. Peter's knowledge of the surrounding area and his willingness to share with guests is a wonderful personal touch. It was clear that they really work hard to provide a first class experience. We consider ourselves to be discerning guests and there are very few places we have stayed that match or come close to what is on offer at Huntington Tower Lodge.

Peter and Tina played a huge part in the enjoyment of our holiday to the Highlands. They were such good hosts, and made us feel so welcome. They were both very knowledgeable of the area and basically what Peter says you do, because he really does know best. Breakfast was amazing, especially the porridge. Room was fantastic, and they were very Covid 19 safe. If you thought you had a good idea about providing an additional service, Peter and Tina have already thought of it, they are brilliant. Thank you again from both myself and Tracey, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back, to enjoy your hospitality and explore more that Scotland has to offer, because this is a great place to base yourself from.

Great local knowledge on the best places to visit. Very helpful-printed out maps for us to keep. Had a pack of laminated maps for visitors to take with them whilst out and about. Numerous books/dvds that could be borrowed (and then quarantined and sanitised before replacing them on the shelves.) Birds a plenty in the (huge) grounds.

Huntingtower Lodge was the best thing we did in Fort William! Absolutely fantastic hosts in Peter and Tina, and a magnificent location for a B&B. It is located beyond the majority of the Fort William accommodation, and that extra space and quietness made it so peaceful. The views from the breakfast table were hypnotic. We highly recommend getting the Stornoway Stack for breakfast and some toast to sample the homemade jams and marmalades. We stayed in The Studio – which is the ground floor room off of the side of the breakfast room. It was fabulous! The bed is huge and superbly comfortable. There is a fridge, a TV (and Peter & Tina have a wide selection of DVDs to choose from), a couch looking out towards the loch and hills beyond, plus a great bathroom. From our window, we saw swans and boats silently passing by and apparently there had been otters a few days ago. Huntington Tower has a few acres of woodland behind it, which you can walk up the back to the little pond with tadpoles and newts, and then beyond to see the views. As a couple, this was honestly such a lovely place to stay. I will certainly be staying here any/every time I am in Fort William.

Tips:

Things that we did: 1) Afternoon Jacobite Steam Train 2) View the train from the best angle (ask Peter for this handy tip!) 3) Got a tasty oat milk flat white at the Highland Soap Company 4) Crannog Cruise (12noon Seal Island boat cruise) 5) Highland Cinema for cocktails and a show

We had a perfect little holiday here and couldn’t rate this B&B higher, it’s fantastic. We stayed in the Waterfall Suite which consists of a large comfortable sitting room with perfect views through large windows onto the loch and mountains beyond, a large bedroom with large very comfortable bed that looks out to the picturesque garden, a spacious dressing room and a large comfortable shower room! Breakfast offers a large and healthy variety - the Stornaway Stack is amazing - with amazing views onto the loch (and bird feeders!) all attentively brought to your table by Peter and Tina. Both are lovely people who make every effort to ensure your stay is nothing less than wonderful. If you’re after any advice or information of what to do in the local area Peter is an enormous source of information, happy to print off maps and provide you local info guides. That said, there’s a huge amount of information available in printed formats and books for all guests on just about anything you could wish for. And a huge variety of DVD’s if you just want to relax in front of the telly. We spent 3 nights here and genuinely can’t wait to visit again :)

Our stay at the Huntingtower Lodge was wonderful from beginning to end. The perfect B&B experience where our hosts were super helpful and present but we did not feel smothered or ever ill-at-ease. The breakfasts were outstanding and the facilities were beautiful (so much information and resources). Our room itself was super spacious and comfortable (with amazing views). Lots of nice restaurants close by (even in the dead of winter) and the most stunning places to visit/hike/drive through.

13th July 2019:

This is an exquisite establishment. Beautiful house set in stunning grounds that have that enviable balance of appearing manicured and groomed and yet providing a haven for wildlife. Peter and Tina as hosts are exemplary in every way. Peter has such extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the area and is very skilled at recommending activities that meet your individual need. Tina plans and prepares a veritable feast for breakfast. Every component of the occasion is of such high standard. Fresh local, and often homemade, produce makes for breakfast joy. Peter and Tina clearly consider every detail in planning their service to visitors. They are very obviously mindful of every need a guest may have. It was just the most perfect of stays. If you are looking for a base in Fort William I cannot imagine you could find better. You will not be disappointed.

Tips:

If you use Google Maps to find this house, DO NOT be put off by position on main road to Fort William. The house is set back and elevated from road and the traffic can hardly be seen and it certainly cannot be heard. Across from the house you can walk along shore of loch. Town is a fifteen minute walk on good pavement. Taxi journeys were around £8 to town. Drivers were all exceptional, each encounter left us more informed of the area and we never failed to laugh on any journey. There are stunning views from all rooms either to front or back. Your eyes will not fail to be drawn to the beautiful loch view and the absolutely incredible gardens which host a wide array of wildlife. The birds are mesmerising to watch in the garden while enjoying breakfast. Individuals have differing needs on a holiday. For us it is enjoying walks, taking in stunning landscapes and eating great food. Creag Meagaidh Nature Reserve provided a great day out for us. So peaceful. Spectacular walking in Glencoe. In terms of identifying what is right for you, speak with Peter and Tina at the house. They are expert and will direct you to activities right for you. I would also say have a drive to Ardnamurchan. The scenery on the route is spectacular and views to Muck, Eigg and Rum are superb.

Rooms beautifully decorated. The food was amazing and the hosts are very helpful and have a wonderful selection of books and DVDs. The Bathrooms are beautiful!!!! Rooms got a little hot and not sure if we could leave windows open too long due to midges. Perhaps a ceiling fan would help.

Tips:

Steal Falls hike not difficult and well worth the effort with the views etc. If you like steam trains or Harry Potter the Jacobite Rail is good but be warned it is a long time on the train and can be very warm on a warm day. Crannog and Macduffs both excellent food.

Huntingtower Lodge provides luxury, relaxed elegant accommodation. The Loch View Room was expansive, comfortable, stylish, extremely well appointed with a delightful view over the garden and loch. Easy chairs by the picture window made for a relaxing space. It was also a bonus to find this room on the ground floor! Peter and Tina are charming hosts. Peter has a wealth of knowledge of the local area to share and Tina’s breakfasts are a highlight. Absolutely recommend.

Peter and Tina are excellent hosts running a very good B&B. The house has great views over the loch to the front and an interesting walk up the hill behind through woodland which has a SSI designation. The rooms are well furnished and the breakfast is plentiful and beautifully prepared. If we are staying in the area again this would be our first choice for accommodation!

29th June 2019:

We were looking for a relaxing, romantic weekend as a start to our vacation in Great Britain, and we could not have found a more perfect place than the Huntingtower Lodge. The Waterfall Suite was so spacious- more like an entire apartment with separate living room, and cozy under the eaves but with lots of natural light from the gorgeous front windows overlooking the loch and the view of the beautiful waterfall out back. The decor was modern and the room immaculately clean. We appreciated the mini-fridge stocked with a pitcher of fresh milk for tea and hot cocoa in the room, and showers in the amazing bathroom after a long hike were wonderful. The breakfasts were delicious- Tina is a gifted cook! And Peter is the perfect host, serving and dispensing weather reports and advice for the day’s activities without being at all obtrusive. We had arrived with Ben Nevis being our only plan, and he recommended a lovely drive and wonderful loop hike in Glen Coe for our other days in Fort William, complete with detailed maps for us to bring along. The lodge is so peaceful- it’s so pleasant and quiet that our stay here just felt extremely restful, for body and spirit! We were so glad we’d chosen to spend several days here- it turned out to be the highlight of an altogether wonderful week exploring Great Britain!

An absolutely fantastic boutique B&B. We were honestly reluctant to leave at the end of our 3 day stay in June. Tina and Peter are perfect hosts providing all sorts of delightful touches to compliment already flawless service; tea and cake on arrival, binoculars at all of the windows overlooking the loch and surrounding countryside, even a dram of whisky to compliment the morning porridge. Heartily recommended.

18th June 2019:

Huntingtower Lodge was perfect in every respect. The welcome provided by Peter & Tina Moss, the quality, design and comfort of the living, bedroom and bathroom spaces were all outstandingly good. The breakfast menu was suitably broad and included some interesting regional choices as well as the traditional full Scottish breakfast and porridge. Tina is an excellent cook and the breakfasts testified to this each morning. The porridge was reminiscent of the delicious texture my Mam cooked for me each morning as a youngster, but with something extra! The optional fresh cream and wee dram of single malt transformed, for me, the culinary delights of porridge.

Tips:

Peter's practical knowledge of the area is extensive and visitiors should avail themselves of this to maximise their time in the area. Whether its hill walking or a cultural visit, he'll readily provide advice, guidance, routes and maps. Huntingtower's website is comprehensively good, very clear and easy to access. Be certain to check out the links to other websites. The documentary information in the rooms has a range of information including a wide selection of restaurants. For those who prefer not to drive for dinner at the end of the day, the Clan Macduff Hotel 300 yards from Huntingtower is a great place, and food and beer is very reasonably priced. Take some time to observe the countless species of birds visiting the bird tables from the light and airy breakfast lounge. It's also a relaxing space to browse the good selection of books and magazines as well as enjoying the panoramic views over Loch Linnhe.

Beautifully situated B&B. Spotlessly clean. Fabulous choice of breakfasts. Delightful owners who were more than happy to recommend places to visit and tours to do. I can think of nothing that could have improved our stay.

Tips:

The owners have boundless knowledge of things to see and do and places to eat. I would recommend (as they did) taking the Fot William to Mallaig train as a grand day out with fabulous scenery.

Tina and Peter are really warm and welcoming hosts. Unfortunately our stay was a mere 2 nights but our accommodations were so spacious that we would have been very comfortable staying much longer. Delicious breakfasts and good coffee and even tea and cake upon our arrival was most appreciated. We would highly recommend

Tips:

The Jacobite steam train ride to Mallaig was worth our effort to get to Fort William by train from Edinburgh. We didn't have a car so very limited in our exploring, but the whole area is so beautiful that walking and hiking are a pleasure.

Peter and Tina run a fantastic friendly and stunning bed and breakfast on the edge of Fort William. They greet you with a smile and cuppa & cake on arrival. Great personal service and really nice manner about them both. Breakfast must be tried, as words just won’t do the food justice!! The room and the view was amazing and even better than the website looked. Stay here if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

Tips:

Tons of pubs and restaurants within a short walk, literally 5 mins to a great pub/restaurant. The shore of the locke is right next to you, if you fancy a walk. Ben Nevis and Glencoe are all 10 mins away, as are some fantastic mtb trails!! Lots of activity centres in the area so, plenty to do and see.

We loved staying at this Lodge. We had the studio apartment which was so roomy and the view was quite spectacular. Just to sit and gaze out of the window was special. Tina and Peter were the ultimate hosts, Tina being a great cook and Peter with his fantastic knowledge of the area and always willing to give advice about day trips. If in the Fort William area we highly recommend staying at Huntingtower lodge.

Tips:

Try the porridge, the memory of it will stay with you. A trip to Eilean Donan is not to be missed, the scenery enroute is spectacular. A visit to Clan McDuff a short walk from the Lodge is worth a visit, try the haggis dish its quite special.

You hear people saying its a home from home, but who wants to stay at home? Here you want for not much at all! You have a problem with balancing which bit is best, the amazing quality breakfast, the wonderful little treats you find daily in your room, the mind blowing views from your window, the quality toiletries in your ensuite or its location to Ben Nevis, the Jacobite steam train and Fort William. If you're in the area and need a truly quality place to stay and I mean quality, then look no further! The hosts Chris & Jackie, are what makes this place special! Their warmth, kindness and knowledge only amplify how great this place is. Jackie not only makes the breakfast, with aid of Chris, but also makes all those lovely treats. Amazing couple, amazing place!!

We had a really lovely, homely stay in the Studio. Chris and Jackie we wonderful hosts, very informative - helping us plan our stay and maximise our time in the beautiful area. Delicious food, very clean and we were even given lifts into town when we weren't cycling. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

Tips:

Ben Nevis Inn does good hearty food to fill up after a day's hiking. One day we got the ferry over to Trislaig with our bikes and cycled a loop around Ardnamurchen - very quiet, great roads and stunning scenery. Hiring a car for the day was also great as it enabled us to drive through Glen Coe and up to the ski field as well as around Loch Leven which was really fun :-)
