We chose the Braeburn based on reviews and we can share that it is a wonderful, welcoming, pristine and cosy establishment managed by caring hosts. Best Scottish breakfast during our 10-day visit to Scotland, made order and served with a warm smile from Gail, our hostess. Our spacious and tastefully decorated room, large bathroom, and comfortable bed were our home away from home for 2 nights. Such a beautiful venue with gorgeous views, a short car ride from town. It’s quiet, relaxing and ideal for visitors wishing to explore the breathtaking sights of the glens.
Tips:Take the canal walk into Fort William. Visit Neptune’s steps (literally just down the road). Take a look at the books in the Braeburn’s library to learn about the area. Gail’s fantastic porridge is a must eat.

A wonderful place to stay. The location is fantastic and the views are breathtaking. The whole guesthouse is so clean and well presented. We sat outside on a beautiful patio and when it was getting dark and cool we sat in a lounge area watching the sunset and reading. I honestly didn't want to leave
Tips:Neptune's staircase, canal walk, river walk and Steall waterfall. Jacobite Express an experience not to be missed. There are lots of shops in Fortwilliam, everything I think you'll need.

We felt very lucky to have found this place to stay, just outside fort William. The house sits high up, giving the rooms we had incredible views over the gardens, the loch and up to Fort William and Ben Nevis. The rooms are of extremely high standard, light and spacious, with very comfortable beds . The shower was epic, and everything was immaculately clean. We needed an early departure due to train issues, but Gail was very happy to provide an excellent cooked breakfast before we left, in the lovely breakfast room. Very warm and friendly hosts, would recommend highly to everyone
Tips:We were looking for accommodation in FW but nothing looked as good quality as this. We travelled by train and stayed on at FW one further stop to Banavie, its then a 13 min walk to the guesthouse. The last bit is very steep if you have heavy bags. We ate at the Moorings Hotel on the Neptune Staircase, which was good.

Excellent one night stay just outside Fort William. Good location, either for Fort William, Ben Nevis, or as a stopover (as for us, on our way to the Skye ferry) Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Lovely big room, very clean and well maintained.
Tips:Pub (The Lochy)just down the road if you don't want to go into Fort William for an evening meal, serves excellent food. If you're wanting to see the train going over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, go early. Car Park has limited space and gets full very quickly.

It was a fantastic stay. The view from the room was amazing, the room itself had everything you'd need. Breakfast had a lot of choices. It was the perfect place for a stay in Fort William.
Tips:It is slightly out of town, but a walk to the high street will cover Neptune's Staircase, you can see the Jacobite go past, views of the canal and a quick trip to the distillery. The area is quiet and gorgeous, there is a bus going to town as well if you don't fancy a walk.

We absolutely loved Braeburn Guest House. The room was well appointed and very comfortable with a great bathroom. The view over Loch Linnhe, through the trees to the mountains, was fabulous. Our hosts were kind and helpful with local suggestions for our on-going route. The breakfasts were all you could hope for! We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it as first-rate.

Hosts Irene and Ton were very welcoming. Ton has vast knowledge of the West Scottish Highlands, and is very helpful with suggestions of activities, walking routes, ferry crossings, local pubs/cafes etc. The guest house was in an ideal location, very close to Neptune's staircase, Ben Nevis, the distillery, and a short drive into Fort William. The railway station is close by, and sits 5 min from Loch Linnhe. The guest house is relaxed, you can come and go as you please, depending on your plans.
Tips:The locality is perfect for all types of activities, from walking/hiking, to local places to visit and explore. Location is ideal for exploring the western isles of Skye and beyond, about 1.5 hrs drive to ferry/Skye Bridge, or an hour to Oban for the Isle of Mull. And of course, Ben Nevis is on the doorstep.

Our welcome was warm and friendly. Our room was lovely very clean and the beds were lovely and comfortable. The views were amazing even with the low cloud cover. Breakfast was excellent freshly cooked and the cold offerings were equally fresh and delicious. Irene and Ton are great hosts and were very helpful as to what to do, how to get there, where to park etc. Cannot fault this lovley guesthouse. Highly recommended.
Tips:Our stay ws short however Ton recommended 2 local places to eat 'The Lochy' and 'The Moorings' both of which ere very good. Very friendly staff. We were only up for a short stay and travelled 'The Jacobite' to Mallaig a lovely trip, scenery amazing and most relaxing way to travel. We did a boat trip at Mallaig to see the local wildlife the staff onboard were informative and good company.

I chose Braeburn House on the basis of previous reviews and was not disappointed. I chose a bedroom which had a magnificent view over the water and mountains. The room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. The breakfast which was served in a room also overlooking the water was well prepared and delicious. We chose to eat dinner at the nearby Hotel called The Locky. The people were friendly and the food very good. Eating here was very convenient and saved a trip into Fort William. I would highly recommend Braeburn House.

Ton and Irene are the best hosts we’ve ever had! The house is so clean and comfortable. The breakfast was absolultely fantastic, with an amazing views. We totally recommend them!
Tips:They recommended us the pub Lochy near the house and Ben Nevis Inn, where we tried the best haggis in Scotland! For visits it’s a must to see the Steall waterfall, though is a bit hard to find. And for the Jabobite’s train in Glennfinan it’s good to know that it passes about half an hour after it departures from Fort William (important to see the timetable) and one of the best places to see it is in the Guest Visitors’ viewpoint (20 minutes walking from the parking).

Nice quiet B and B ideal location for exploring Ben Nevis and fort William and a good base to explore other areas within a few hours drive or less such as Loch Lomond Loch Ness etc. very clean hosts are lovely beds are comfy and breakfast is plentiful.
Tips:Obviously Ben Nevis is the big attraction but I’m not a walker but I loved going around the falls, we were there to do the Harry Potter steam train which was absolutely brilliant and you can catch a glimpse of the train from the guesthouse. We did not know but if you get the train times it takes approx 1 hour from fort William to glenfinnan and if you drive up to glenfinnan (12 miles roughly) from the guesthouse there are viewing areas to watch the train go over the viaduct so a bit gutted we missed doing this being potter heads!!

this B&B is a bit outside of Fort William - you can walk to the city centre, but it's about an hour walk... on the other side the bedroms are really quiet and the view out of the windows is spectacular. The bedroom was spacious and tidy, the bathroom was also large and seems to be renovated recently. But best part was the breackfast - we had 4 different B&B's during our trip in Scotland and the scottisch breakfast here was by far the best.

Lovely couple and great hosts, who make their guests feel very welcome. Braeburn guest house has a beautiful elevated location, giving excellent views of the loch and mountains. It is located a couple of miles from the centre of Fort William, away from the busy hustle and bustle. This is our second stay at Braerburn guest house, we will return.
Tips:Just a little walk from Braeburn guest house, is Neptunes Stairway, part of the Caladonian canal system. Close by, is a pleasant pub for food and drink. Just a short ride from the guest house is Fort William. Train rides to Mallaig and back in "Harry Potter" steam train and Scottish Rail electric trains, is well worth the experience. The scenery and Glenfinnan viaduct, are stunning.

Definitely our favourite guesthouse in Scotland. Room spacious and cleanliness top notch, staff was incredible. Useful travel tips given, thanks to suggestions given we got to see orange pigs and Highland cows which we hadn't managed to see during our week in the Highlands. Breakfast super yummy too. Can't recommend this Guesthouse enough, we simply loved it and hope to return
Tips:Personally found the Jacobite steam train experience a rip off, it was a much greater experience viewing the train pass from glenfinnan than the actual train experience from fort William. Recommended restaurant for dinner: lochside brasserie at the whispering pine lodge (35 mins drive)

Fabulous place to stay - beautiful and quiet location. The guesthouses decor and its facilitles are stunning, modern layout and has everything you need. Hosts Ton & Eileen are friendly and helpful... The Braeburn Guest House will definitely be on the top of our list to book when we're next in this area! Highly recommended...
Tips:Two or three choices of restaurants closeby, but not what I would call walking distance... Out of town and in a location with great views. A coupld of miles out ot town - Treasures of the Earth is worth a visit, and also close by is Neptune's steps (8 locks)..

You could tell Irene and Ton really put their hearts into this place and it showed. The hosts were very kind and helpful and offered many useful tips about things to do and see in the area and they had a lot of maps and information brochures too. The rooms were very clean and great care was taken with attention to detail throughout. The breakfast quality and quantity were generous too and I found the beds very comfortable. The location is ideal for walks by the water to the harbour areas in Corpach and Fort William. I can't imagine better value for money from a B&B in such a prime location. I am definitely planning to visit again!
Tips:I enjoyed walking the Glen Way and going to the Corpach harbour area. Neptune's Staircase is great to walk along too, especially when the boats are sailing down. There is a steam train to Mallaig (the famous one from the Harry Potter films) that passes through the area. I also enjoyed visiting Old Inverlochy Castle. A bit further towards the Nevis range are some beautiful opportunities for walking and seeing waterfalls (Lower Falls and Steall Falls). It is also well worth a travel to the nearest lochs for an outdoor swim or if not that, dip the feet into the glens! And there is much more that I (sadly) did not allow enough time for - next time!

3rd September 2021:
We had a great stay - Ton and Irene were very friendly and were happy to recommend what to do in the area or where to go. The breakfast included during our stay set us up well for the day - we’re vegan and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Overall the stay was fantastic, the location is perfect for hiking and taking in the sites. Our room (2) was very spacious with an en-suite and a great view. The room was cleaned everyday and the guesthouse is made to a very high standard. We would definitely recommend the guesthouse to anyone.
Tips:Tiger on the Wall is a great Indian/Chinese fusion restaurant - most of the good restaurants in Fort William don’t take bookings in advance so you will likely need to wait for a table. For hiking I would say it’s best to drive, you can practically park at any lay-by and start walking. We didn’t take the bus or train around but I think driving is by far the most efficient way to get the most out of your stay. There’s a Coop close to the guesthouse that’s very handy for any snacks you might need for a hike. Caol seems like a nice little place, much quieter than nearby Fort William but only a 5 minute drive from all the restaurants and shops.

31st August 2021:
Our stay in Braeburn guest house was very short as we reached late and left next day but we noticed that it was very beautifully decorated with remarkable personal touches and very well maintained. In addition to the beautiful interiors and location, it was mainly the welcoming attitude of the hosts, Ton and Irene, which made it so special. Even in the very short stay, they made us feel at home. Smiling, courteous and always very helpful whether it was directions to local interests, helpful suggestions or just sharing personal experiences. The word that comes to mind is family. That's it. They made us feel like family.
Tips:It was first time there and our primary purpose was to climb the real 'Big Ben', and my wife and I did it the CMD Arete route/ North face. I would say carry enough water/liquid and light packs and have enough time in hand to enjoy the experience and not rush through. For the car park to the North face, google it as Torlundy car park because it doesn't have a post code. We are not eating out fans, so we didn't visit restaurants. Also, just ask Ton😃.

We had a fantastic time in fort William. Ton and Irene were both superb hosts that were very friendly and helpful, they thought of ever little detail! The room was a fantastic size, immaculately clean with beautiful views of the highlands and has recently been refurbished to look wonderful! In the morning, the breakfast was amazing and I would recommend Braeburn to anyone who wants to stay in fort William!
Tips:Ton and Irene recommended a pub round the corner for dinner called the Lochy, which was great and had honest food! Ben Nevis is also a stones throw away from the BnB and Ton said that they gave extra drying materials to help with hiking gear! My only real recommendation is make sure you book this hotel if you’re staying in the area!

Tips:Braeburn guest house is a wonderful place to stay. Rooms are large and clean and actually look new, even though they aren’t. Breakfast is fresh and plentiful and you are only a 5 minute drive from downtown for the pubs snd restaurants. Situated just outside of Ft William with a spectacular view. We stayed for 1 day, then 3 days the following week. We were very satisfied with the room, the breakfast and the location which was close to the Great Glen Way and a number of great places to walk/cycle/climb or enjoy water sports.
Tips:Glenfinnan is a good place to see the steam train but has become well known and is busy but there are lots of places to discover and stunningly beautiful views that you cannot find the words to justify the effect they have on you. Check out Forestry sits e.g. Inchree near Onich; a walk that gives you so many aspects of the waterfall, in June there are masses of Rhododendruns around the falls that adds to the effect.

Braeburn is not an ordinary run of the mill b&b, it is a very welcoming and calm place ideally located on the fringes of Fort William. We had an enjoyable few days, the breakfasts were excellent and the hosts very welcoming and knowledgable
Tips:We tried two local restaurants, the Moorings, excellent food, and the Lochy with good food and really friendly staff. We travelled to Mallaig by car not train, on Ton’s advice which proved to be right for us. We were able to photograph the Jacobite train along the Glenfinnan viaduct and got into a restaurant in Mallaig before the train arrived and all the passengers disembarked filling up all local eateries.

Would highly recommend Braeburn guesthouse for a stay when in Fort William area. We felt completely at home from arrival to departure. The owners were very helpful with local information and quickly reserved us a table at a local restaurant for the evening of our arrival which was a great choice. The guest house is spotlessly clean, great choice of breakfast/buffet and we couldn’t have chosen better accommodation.
Tips:We ate at Browns restaurant with delicious food that was not overpriced and the staff were very friendly. We travelled on the Jacobite steam train from Fort William to Mallaig and back. A worthwhile trip to take in beautiful Scottish scenery. All in all a successful short trip. Margaret & Frank

Our stay was short but sweet and we have nothing but positive words to say. The room had everything we could need and the breakfast was excellent. Irene and Ton were the perfect hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. The only thing they weren't able to organise for us was that the sun would come out. Nevertheless the b&b and Banavie in general were in a great location for both trips to Glennfinan viaduct (especially for harry potter fans) and of course Fort William/ Ben Nevis etc..
Tips:We had a nice meal at the hotel a little walk away in Banavie (have forgotten the name but there are not many ;) ). The food was good but boy was it expensive. Would suggest sticking to Fort William if transport is an issue. The train carriage restaurant/café at glennfinan station was a nice experience and not too expensive for a quick snack.

Lovely place, close to town, walks, eating, beautiful views. Make sure to engage the host in a discussion of fine art...he is setting up rooms to reflect artists such as Van Gogh and Vermeer. Wonderful place to stay. Quiet location with good views. Good supplies in room of various drinks and toiletries. Great variety of food at breakfast. We had an amazing night at Braeburn Guest House. The room and the bathroom are very nice. The view from the room is stunning. Everything was clean and the breakfast was the perfect start in the day. It is near Glenfinnan and the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The hosts are very friendly and gave is fantastic tips for a Indian restaurant and a nice walk near Ben Nevis.

12th October 2018:
What a fabulous B&B. Irene and Ton are the best hosts you can imagine so we were in for a real Scotish/Dutch treat. They - really take pride in providing an immaculate place with a cleanliness I wish I could have in my own home on a daily basis. - are always in for a friendly chat (if wanted) - are helpful with the best tips for suitable tours around the area and very supportive in case of uncertainties (in our case: if the ferry to Sky would be going and if we'd be able to reach our accomodation there). We even got an upgrade to the superior room with a beautiful view, lots of space and very comfy beds. At breakfast you get to chose in detail what you like (different options for a Scotish breakfast from haggis, differently prepared eggs, beans, sausages,... to porridge or continental) and you may be in for an additional surprise if there is the time (my daughter got treated to some pancakes).
Tips:Go to the Ben Nevis Inn for a tasty dinner in a great setting. Long wodden tables, candles in a former barn. Make a reservation. Steall Waterfall is a nice walk of about 30 minutes (one way) from the last car park. Beautiful views, small and uneven tracks, you better wear decent walking/hiking shoes. At the end of the walk is a cable bridge. Don't get scared away: it is not that difficult to cross as it looks.

Wonderful hosts in Ton and Irene who could not have been more helpful. Lovely couple. We were made to feel very welcome and the room my wife and I stayed in was a twin bedded room beautifully cleaned and a most gorgeous bathroom. Breakfast was second to none in a dinning area of impeccable taste.
Tips:On this trip we were only passing through but on previous visit we had spent four nights and found plenty to occupy our time although most of it was travelling around in the car to visit the area further afield. There is plenty of opportunity for walking and cycling locally and it is the starting point for both the Great Glen Way and the West Highland Walk.

Owner Response:Dear Walkers ;) Thank you for making us blush. We hope to meet you again when you traveling up to the Highlands. Then we hopefully can show you our photos of Lewis and Harris. Warm wishes, Ton and Irene

Ton and Irene were so welcoming, despite the fact that our arrival interrupted their evening meal. They instantly made us feel at home and showed us all to our rooms, explained how breakfast works and gave us some recommendations for places to eat and things to see (including some very good advice to arrive EARLY at Glenfinnan if you want to see the Harry Potter train!)

Ton en Irene, jullie waren uitstekende gastgevers en veel succes met de verdere aanpassingen/veranderingen.

Great purpose-built space for B&B, good size rooms with bathrooms. Friendly hosts. Had a difficult time finding a reservation in Fort William because of the busy summer season. Very happy with this location just outside of town, but still within walking distance to a few restaurants and to the lovely canal path. Comfortable and quiet at night.

Lovely B&B and friendly hosts. Excellent porridge. Only potential improvement would be availability of an earlier breakfast than 8am, which is a bit late if you're wanting a big day in the mountains, and then to get back for dinner at a reasonable time in the evening.

Owner Response:Good evening, Thank you so much for your positive words. We wish you mentioned you want to have breakfast earlier than 8am because it would be no problem for us to serve it at another time. So please when you come again, mention it the night before and we arrange you can leave on time for your day out. Kindest regards, Ton and Irene

We do not usually stay in b&b's as past experiance has not been very good. So we were pleasantly surprised when we stayed here. Stayed two nights in room 2. Ton and Irene were perfect hosts. Helpful, enthusiastic and friendly. There was a nice and relaxed atmosphere to the b&b. The room was a good size, well appointed and had large windows letting in lots of light and Tor had explained there were plans to cut back some of the treetops to give a view of the Loch. Breakfast was excellent, a choice of cereal and fresh fruit salad, yoghurt etc. And a choice of continental or cooked breakfast which was cooked to order all served in a pleasant, well appointed dinning room. The b&b is situated out of the town center, which we liked but close enough for convenience. A shrt distance to Neptune's Staircase, the lock system on the Caledonian Canal which has great accsess for walking, cycling and cafe/bistro etc. Suited us perfectly and will visit again. Thank you Irene & Tor
