20th November 2024:
One of our favorite places we stayed in Scotland! Exceptional view, wonderfully clean, delightful hosts who are super knowledgable and have plenty of recommendations about the area. And the breakfasts were to die for! Though we ended up not needing it, it was also really cool to see an "early breakfast" option for those leaving before usual dining hours.
Tips:Do not hesitate to book Lochview Guest House!

Owner Response:Thank you for your very kind review - we are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us! Maybe you'll visit again some day. You will always be welcome. Very warm wishes, Pen & Micha.

16th October 2024:
I had a lovely 2-night stay at Lochview. The room was spotless, hosts were lovely, and a very nice breakfast with a view! Would definitely recommend.
Tips:The location is lovely and quiet; however, it is a very steep walk up from town. I was aware of this and not a problem for me but could be for some. It’s only 5 minutes or so walk down to the High Street (shortcut easily found which has steps and breaks the journey up a bit on the way back). A good walk to get the heart rate up! Pay & display parking readily available at bottom of the hill if you don’t want to walk it. Highly recommend the Limetree Restaurant (Silly Goose) at the bottom of the hill. An absolutely superb meal with excellent service.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks so much for this great review, and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. The hill can be quite a challenge - fortunately there are taxis in town to help at the end of an evening! We're glad you felt that the views were worth it :) Do hope you relaxed and got some rest, and maybe we will see you again in the near future. Warmest wishes, Pen & Micha

Super friendly and helpful host*in, beautiful room with views of Loch Linnhe, really cosy room and one feels at home, delicious rich breakfast made fresh from home. I would love to come back this time and can really recommend this place. The more strenuous the walk from Fort William, the more worthwhile it is to stay in a nice room with sea view.
Tips:- Walk to the top of Cow Hill - Many restaurants in Fort William - Trip to Glennfiann for Harry Potter fans ;)

Gorgeous property with breathtaking views. Amazing service, delicious breakfasts, clean and comfortable rooms.
Tips:Take a cab to the property. It’s on top of a hill (which is why there’s breathtaking views). It’s an easy walk down to the town center.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and many thanks for taking the time to write the review. Special thanks for equating the hill with the view: it can be a bit steep at the end of a long day but we certainly believe it's worth it :) Very warm wishes, Pen & Micha.

3rd October 2024:
Our stay at Lochview Guest House was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Micha, who gave us a helpful briefing upon check-in. The high standard of cleanliness throughout the guest house was exemplary, and the cozy, well-decorated rooms made us feel right at home. Situated on a hill, the guest house offers a serene, quiet atmosphere with stunning views of the loch and the beautiful garden. Our room was spacious and brightly lit, with comfortable bedding that ensured a restful night’s sleep. The common lounge area was a perfect spot to relax, with its warm, cozy ambiance, large TV, and selection of books. One of the highlights of our stay was the freshly cooked, hearty breakfast served in the dining room, where we could enjoy breathtaking views of the loch. While waiting for our pre-ordered breakfast, we were treated to a lovely continental spread of croissants, toast, cereal, yogurt, mixed fruit, and more. Afternoon tea with cake, served while soaking in the beautiful loch view, was another memorable moment. Pen and Micha’s commitment to high service standards was clear in every detail. They put a lot of thought and effort into ensuring that we had a comfortable and unforgettable stay. The guest house’s quaint neighborhood is also a delight. It’s a convenient walk down the hill, where you can explore the beauty of Loch Linnhe and the surrounding area, as well as shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Warm welcome was given with all house rules fully explained. Attention to detail was evident throughout the house. The breakfast room was first class with lovely views down to the water. When it came to the breakfast what can be said other then served with a smile and cooked and presented to perfection. Well done. Have no hesitation in recommending Lochview Guest House for anyone thinking in holidaying in the area.
Tips:Unfortunately our stay was marred by horrible weather, but there again that's Scotland. We don't always appreciate how lovely and fresh everything is. Is there a happy medium. ? Fort William is certainly a centre for outdoor activity with facilities and challenges for everyone. Certainly recommended as an outdoor holiday centre with many attractions within a 50 mile radius.

It was a pleasure to stay at Lochview Guest House. Two nights wasn't nearly enough to explore the beautiful surrounding area. A yummy breakfast with a stunning view was the perfect way to start each day and the service was second to none. The room with clean and equipped with everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. Thanks again!
Tips:I would definitely recommend taking a cab from the bus/train station as the journey is to the guest house is too steep make by foot with luggage. I loved taking a sunset cruise on Loch Linnhe upon arrival as well as a full day of hiking the Glenfinnan Viaduct - just a 30 minute ride away by train. Places to eat: Black Isle Bar and The Wildcat.

Their attention to detail is second to none, the rooms are fantastic and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Great place to stay. Well worth the money.
Tips:Go visit Steall Falls, an absolutely amazing place.

Very good value for money and welcoming host , nice view and comfort
Tips:There is a side selection of pubs and restaurants and the host makes their recommendations in their handbook, also faces to Ben Nevis trail is very accessible even on foot, with less than on your to get to the seat of the trail. But don't worry if you need transportation. Taxi services run past 8pm and they can go as far as the star of the trail at the Ben Nevis Inn, and public buses including night buses are available as well

Lovely guest house with very friendly and attentive hosts. They went above and beyond our expectations to make our stay perfect. Lots of little unexpected attentions to detail. Very clean and spacious room.
Tips:The guest house is only about a 15-20 min walk from the station but the second half of the walk is all up hill so be prepared. If it wasn’t up hill, you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the fabulous views from the breakfast room so well worth the effort. The Ben Nevis pub and The Tavern on the high street are both great for food and drinks. The seal spotting boat trip round the loch are well worth doing, and yes, we did see the seals. Get the train to Glenfinnan and follow the viaduct trail path from the station. It’s a lovely walk and if you time it right you might even see the steam train over the viaduct.

Pen and Micha are wonderful hosts and the hotel is in a great position with fabulous views. This is clearly an area for keen walkers but there is ample parking and plenty to see and do if you are less fit or less keen on walking.

Friendly couple, good quality food, great selection, there is also fresh milk for guests to use which is kept in the guests fridge to use with the complementary tea and coffee. The milk is semi skimmed which I am not a fan of, as I prefer full fat milk but i loved seeing the fresh milk over those small little plastic cups that are usually given. They taste yuck and smell funny. So the fresh was a real pleaser to see. Lovely views also.
Tips:The manago cafe restaurant was nice. I noticed they do not sell alcohol but for those who would like an alcoholic drink you can bring a bottle with a £2 pounds corkage charge. Ben Nevis is wonderful to climb. Br prepared for weather changes, and I highly recommend having some hiking sticks as they are great for coming down as it helps protect your knees. We Will come back to do other walks but that was the one that brought us here in the first place.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review! Sorry that your full fat milk preference was not noted at the time - please do ask us for any milk you like in the future :) Great advice on Ben Nevis, and we are also glad that you discovered Cafe Mango: a little gem. I really enjoyed my stay! The room was well decorated and clean, the porch and garden and breakfast room were all beautiful, and hosts were amazing! It was a nice place to relax and be away from all the hubbub of town, but close enough I could walk in without trouble. Absolutely fabulous and if I come back to the area I'd book it in a heartbeat. (4 stars on location because steep hill; it's more like 4.8 stars but wanted distinction there)
Tips:Keep in mind that it's on a very steep hill (why the view is so amazing!) so cars may be better suited for those with limited mobility. Porch was good for sitting and enjoying the landscape. Black Isle Bar had good pizza, would recommend.

Owner Response:Many thanks for this. Lochview is, indeed, up a steep hill and we do suggest that those less mobile may prefer to stay lower down in Fort William. We appreciate the caveat :) Delighted that you had a good stay, and we would love to welcome you again in the future.

Excellent stay from start to finish. Hosts are very welcoming lovely people. Breakfast in the wonderful breakfast room was lovely - all freshly prepared and piping hot. We stayed in the Linnhe suite which is superb - fantastic views and very spacious. Everywhere is exceptionally clean. We would not hesitate in recommending Lochview.
Tips:It is situated a short walk into town. It’s a bit of a climb back but well worth it for the view. There is plenty of parking around town if you aren’t into walking. We ate at The Grog and Gruel upstairs in its restaurant - food and service was very good and reasonably priced. Also ate at a relatively new restaurant - Sonas - again excellent food. We had a boat ride on the loch which was well worth it. Also the reason for the visit was a trip on the Jacobite steam train which was wonderful.

We had a lovely stay here. The breakfast was superb and the view beautiful! Our room was very clean and comfortable. The toiletries were good and there was plenty tea, coffee and hot chocolate with proper fresh milk and not long life pods. The creativity of the towels being origamied into swans was a fun touch, along with the ends of the toilet roll being made into a little boat! We loved that there was a lounge for guests to use (which we did) glasses for any drinks we had brought with us and a fridge to chill them in. An extra touch we appreciated was the afternoon cake available which was very welcome with a cuppa after our journey. All in all we were made very welcome and we will definitely stay here again should we journey to Fort William.

Pen and Micha (the proprietors) were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We stayed in the Nevis with a king size bed which was very comfortable and we both slept peacefully (many a place where I haven't slept due to the bed not being comfy, so this was a huge bonus). Breakfast was really nice with locally sourced fresh foods with views from the Loch in the breakfast room.
Tips:Steall Waterfalls is definitely worth a long walk out to it. If you like steam trains, do the Jacobite steam train, otherwise the Scotch rail service goes along the same track to Mallaig.

Really friendly staff and well equiped. It is at the top of a hill, so it is harder to walk or ride up, but it has a wonderful view of clouds over the loch.
Tips:Be careful going up and down the hill. There is a really good Indian restaurant in Fort William, Spice Tandoori, but avoid China Palace. The museum is interesting. The best things are on the roads around Fort William, such as Skye, Applecross and Inverary Jail. If going to Skye the bridge is always open, but the Mallaig ferry gets booked up. It is also worth visiting the end of the Caledonian canal at Corpach and the quaint gems and fossils museum there.

If I could do anything different I would stay in the loch view room as that is the only thing I would change. A massive thank you and hope to come back one day xx
Tips:Tips try the cinema cafe the service and food fantastic. If you go on the Jacobite train make sure you go on the western isle boat trip, it fits in with the train time so you will have more than enough time to go on it and if you need a snack use the the bake house amazing food.

Pen & Micha are wonderful people who host a B&B we wish we had more time to stay at. We had some of our most restful evenings of our trip under their roof.
Tips:The views from the dining hall each morning were a wonderful way to start the day. The walk up to the property is almost a perfect mile from the train station (344ft of elevation gain) but you should be warned the last pitch offers an 8% grade before the front door. We really wish we had some more time in Ft William to explore as we really enjoyed the variety of the town's amenities and enjoyed the topography.

Absolutely loved our stay at Lochview. The room was spotless and loved the little touches like the rubber duck in the shower and the bowl of sweets dotted around the guest house and in the rooms. I would give it 6 starts if there was such a thing - perfect!
Tips:It is quite high up, which is mentioned when you book, so you may want to get a taxi up to it if you’re not driving. We walked into town (10 mins - a bit longer walking back up the hill!). There is a Wetherspoons in Fort William but it doesn’t have a vast amount of choice with regards food but it’s cheap and cheerful. There are other places too and most are on a first come first served basis. Would definitely recommend going on the gondolas at the Nevis range (about 10 minute drive from Fort William) views are absolutely stunning.

Professional immaculately presented home with magnificent views. To call it a guest house doesn’t do Lochview justice - this is a perfect home away from home with magnificent standards you’d expect in a top hotel. Friendly, welcoming and amazing standards in food hygiene (and food taste) from the owners who have a can do attitude to anything you would ever need .
Tips:The homeowners suggestions which were brilliant: hire a bike and cycle along the canal, climb Ben Nevis and take a ride on the Harry Potter train. Also visit the little museum in the square - there’s so much to see! Also: go to Rain for the best coffee and pastries in town, or the Wildcat vegan cafe (although Wildcat is a bit pricey and small portions) . For picnic food drop off at Morrisons at the train station end of town on the way - walking distance from the town. There’s also a very cute little cinema in the square - we didn’t stop to see a film there but it looks amazing.

A Delightful Stay at Lochview House B&B in Fort William My recent stay at Lochview House B&B in Fort William was an exceptional experience that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The cleanliness of this B&B was impressive, as it is evident that the proprietor takes great pride in maintaining a spotless and well-organised environment. This attention to detail extended to the cosy and comfortable room I was provided, which was tastefully decorated and featured all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. The owner of Lochview House B&B went above and beyond in terms of hospitality. Their welcoming and well-mannered demeanour made me feel like a valued guest, and they were always available to assist with any needs or enquiries I had during my stay. One of the highlights of my visit was the fantastic breakfast served each morning. Prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, the breakfast menu offered a variety of delicious options that catered to all tastes. The presentation was equally impressive, demonstrating the proprietor's dedication to providing a delightful dining experience for their guests. An additional delight was the small library situated in the lounge. This fantastic collection of books offered a lovely way to unwind and relax during my stay, making the B&B feel even more like a home away from home. In conclusion, my time at Lochview House B&B in Fort William was nothing short of remarkable. From the spotless accommodations and cosy atmosphere to the friendly proprietor and delectable breakfast offerings, this B&B has set a high standard for my future travels. I wholeheartedly recommend Lochview House B&B to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay in Fort William.

Comfortable, cosy room, great welcome and friendly staff. Lovely views over the loch. Excellent breakfast. A bit too far up the hill for senior citizens to walk from town but restaurants easily accessible by car. Would definitely stay at Lochview Guest House again.

Loved this B&B. Karen was an amazing host. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and came with a wonderful view of the loch. We stayed here two nights and would have loved to stay longer. Would recommend.
Tips:We stayed at this B&B so that we could be close to the Jacobite Steam Train departure location. A couple on the train missed their outgoing leg because they stayed out of town and got stuck in traffic. Don't miss your train and stay at this B&B!

Kind welcome and goodbye. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into making a comfortable guesthouse and a excellent place from which to explore Fort William and its surroundings.

An exceptionally clean and comfortable room with ensuite facilities in a well run, friendly guest house made for a perfect base in Fort William. The breakfast menu was varied, tasty and prepared to order - the fruit salad selection was an artwork in itself! The location reflects the name but is up a VERY step road - it can be managed (perhaps once a day) but for those with mobility issues a taxi would be advisable.
Tips:We dined at the Grog and Gruel and recommend the Stag Pie. The Sharing Cheese Platter at the Highland Cinema was also a tasty meal. The Neptune steps are a nice circular walk from FW; the Jacobite Express is also worth the price. We travelled up by Caledonian Sleeper and hardly slept a wink - despite earplug - so would recommend driving, flying or sitting upright if travelling from further afield.

The breakfast was amazing, you put your order in the night before along with the time you want breakfast and it is freshly cooked for you, I had the fried breakfast being from a Scotland I am used to them Being deep fried, there was no grease / oil at all ok this breakfast most of it was cooked in the oven and it was gorgeous I will definitely be staying here again

Beautiful guest house in a great location to get wonderful views of the Loch. Luxurious suite with complementary Prosecco and chocolates. Very peaceful and definitely worth a visit to re-charge your batteries. Karen the host was very helpful. There was a good breakfast choice and they were cooked and presented beautifully. A continental breakfast choice is available too.
Tips:Worth a visit to Neptune's Staircase and if you are lucky you will see a boat coming up the numerous locks. A trip on The Jacobite Express is a must but you must book very well in advance although sometimes the odd ticket can be got at the station. Then a road trip to Glenfinnan to see the viaduct from different viewpoints. Clothing...have some for all weathers. It can get cold in summer too. Good waterproofs, walking boots and a spare pair of shoes are helpful. Eating out at night then book in advance or get there early around 6pm. It gets much busier down the town later. 24 hour parking is available near the Shinty Park opposite Lidl. Up to 10 hours at the Nevis Centre nearby. If you are on the Jacobite pay for a little extra time as our train was held up coming back for 40 minutes due to a late Scotrail service.

Karen and Vince were great hosts. My travel mates booked into the premier inn. This is much better than their choice. The breakfasts are great. Their property is 10 mins walk from the town centre but it is quite a steep climb. The benefits are privacy and views of the Loch.
Tips:Try the fresh fruit and yogurt starter for breakfast followed by the smoked salmon. So good. Try the Black Isle bar for a large choice of ales/lagers and ciders. Pints are around £6 but worth it for a couple. Pizzas around £14 but pretty good. Weatherspoons guest ale’s we’re £1.49 a pint. 2 pints for less than £3! Motorcycle parking is outside but the location of the property makes it feel safe. If you are on a motorcycle go to the Quiraing on Skye for amazing views and Bealach na ba en route to applecross for more amazing views.
