22nd October 2023:

Lochview Guest House was delightful place to stay. Our room was comfortable with lovely products to use. The dining room has the most wonderful view of the Loch and our evening meal was one of the best we meals we had on our trip. A delicious and generous breakfast was also enjoyed. I would highly recommend Lochview Guest House.

Tips:

We travelled from Oban to Isle of Mull by car but unfortunately the weather was against us so our drive around the Island was in pouring rain. I am sure had it been clear it would have been pleasant !!

Pen and Micha (the proprietors) were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We stayed in the Nevis with a king size bed which was very comfortable and we both slept peacefully (many a place where I haven't slept due to the bed not being comfy, so this was a huge bonus). Breakfast was really nice with locally sourced fresh foods with views from the Loch in the breakfast room.

Tips:

Steall Waterfalls is definitely worth a long walk out to it. If you like steam trains, do the Jacobite steam train, otherwise the Scotch rail service goes along the same track to Mallaig.

Really friendly staff and well equiped. It is at the top of a hill, so it is harder to walk or ride up, but it has a wonderful view of clouds over the loch.

Tips:

Be careful going up and down the hill. There is a really good Indian restaurant in Fort William, Spice Tandoori, but avoid China Palace. The museum is interesting. The best things are on the roads around Fort William, such as Skye, Applecross and Inverary Jail. If going to Skye the bridge is always open, but the Mallaig ferry gets booked up. It is also worth visiting the end of the Caledonian canal at Corpach and the quaint gems and fossils museum there.

Pen and Mischa were courteous and friendly hosts for my three-day stay. For a traveller on foot, the hike uphill to the Lochview, via streets, lanes and hidden stairways, is well and truly worth the effort.

Having used many B &B sin my time this has the very best one I have ever been to the communication, the booking ,the staff , the food especially the food the bed ,the view I could go on but the best thing to say is just go and stay there. If I could do anything different I would stay in the loch view room as that is the only thing I would change. A massive thank you and hope to come back one day xx

Tips:

Tips try the cinema cafe the service and food fantastic. If you go on the Jacobite train make sure you go on the western isle boat trip, it fits in with the train time so you will have more than enough time to go on it and if you need a snack use the the bake house amazing food.

The accommodation was of an excellent quality. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very hearty ready for a day out. Easy parking and easy to walk to town for a meal.

Fort William was very busy. We should have booked an evening meal instead of walking around. Although there are EV charging points in the car park behind Morrison’s you can only stay 45 minutes- not enough time for any charge.

Pen & Micha are wonderful people who host a B&B we wish we had more time to stay at. We had some of our most restful evenings of our trip under their roof.

Tips:

The views from the dining hall each morning were a wonderful way to start the day. The walk up to the property is almost a perfect mile from the train station (344ft of elevation gain) but you should be warned the last pitch offers an 8% grade before the front door. We really wish we had some more time in Ft William to explore as we really enjoyed the variety of the town's amenities and enjoyed the topography.

Perfect location with a wonderful view. We stayed in the Linnhe Suite which also had the view, lovely comfortable bed and a powerful shower. We enjoyed the complimentary Prosecco and chocolates. We couldn’t have asked for more for our short relaxing Stay. Karen was an exceptionally informative and friendly host with tips about where to eat etc. A very lucky find.

Tips:

We recommend The Ben Nevis Inn, we had a really lovely meal there with a great atmosphere. We took the Jacobite Steam train to Mallaig on another day.

Absolutely loved our stay at Lochview. The room was spotless and loved the little touches like the rubber duck in the shower and the bowl of sweets dotted around the guest house and in the rooms. I would give it 6 starts if there was such a thing - perfect!

Tips:

It is quite high up, which is mentioned when you book, so you may want to get a taxi up to it if you’re not driving. We walked into town (10 mins - a bit longer walking back up the hill!). There is a Wetherspoons in Fort William but it doesn’t have a vast amount of choice with regards food but it’s cheap and cheerful. There are other places too and most are on a first come first served basis. Would definitely recommend going on the gondolas at the Nevis range (about 10 minute drive from Fort William) views are absolutely stunning.

Professional immaculately presented home with magnificent views. To call it a guest house doesn’t do Lochview justice - this is a perfect home away from home with magnificent standards you’d expect in a top hotel. Friendly, welcoming and amazing standards in food hygiene (and food taste) from the owners who have a can do attitude to anything you would ever need .

Tips:

The homeowners suggestions which were brilliant: hire a bike and cycle along the canal, climb Ben Nevis and take a ride on the Harry Potter train. Also visit the little museum in the square - there’s so much to see! Also: go to Rain for the best coffee and pastries in town, or the Wildcat vegan cafe (although Wildcat is a bit pricey and small portions) . For picnic food drop off at Morrisons at the train station end of town on the way - walking distance from the town. There’s also a very cute little cinema in the square - we didn’t stop to see a film there but it looks amazing.

Beautiful guest house with amazing views. We stayed in the Linnhe Suite loch view and my Mum the double loch view. Spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. Very comfortable. Highly recommended. Very welcoming hosts. We will definitely be back. The property is up a steep hill so a taxi needed for the not so fit (pre book Nevis Taxis)

Tips:

For food, Crannog at Garrison West (fish) is well worth a visit and also The Crofter (pub meals) but both need booking. I booked well in advance as it seems the restaurants get full. There are some lovely walks (ask Karen for a map). Loch Linnhe Cruise is a nice trip around the loch. Lots of info given and a look at the seals. Lovely area with gorgeous views

Tips:

It’s a good idea to walk down to the centre of Fort William. Taxis back are good and as Karen said just go outside WH Smith and there was always a taxi parked there! Location is excellent for travelling around to various spots. For a good view of Ben Nevis, head up-to the ski resort viewing point. We took the steam train to Mallaig. Ventured up to Fort Augusta’s, not too far away to see Loch Ness. There are cruises too for Loch Ness. Oban is not too far away. Nevis suite was very comfortable with separate sitting room. Saw deer twice from the window. Loved the bears and shower duck touches. Breakfast well presented and enjoyed the fruit and yogurt for a change from cereal. Lovely views from the dining room and terrace. A rather steep climb back up from town if you walk it. Would have been nice to say hello to Vince who was busy in the background/kitchen. Would certainly stay again if in Fort William.

Tips:

WE ate at the Ben Nevis Inn at the foot of Ben Nevis on two evenings as you were able to book a table. other evenings at Brewers Fayre as able to book and car parking. Enjoyed a two hour trip on Loch Linnhe. Pier is just 11 minutes walk down the hill from the Guest House. lots of walking opportunities. A Delightful Stay at Lochview House B&B in Fort William My recent stay at Lochview House B&B in Fort William was an exceptional experience that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The cleanliness of this B&B was impressive, as it is evident that the proprietor takes great pride in maintaining a spotless and well-organised environment. This attention to detail extended to the cosy and comfortable room I was provided, which was tastefully decorated and featured all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. The owner of Lochview House B&B went above and beyond in terms of hospitality. Their welcoming and well-mannered demeanour made me feel like a valued guest, and they were always available to assist with any needs or enquiries I had during my stay. One of the highlights of my visit was the fantastic breakfast served each morning. Prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, the breakfast menu offered a variety of delicious options that catered to all tastes. The presentation was equally impressive, demonstrating the proprietor's dedication to providing a delightful dining experience for their guests. An additional delight was the small library situated in the lounge. This fantastic collection of books offered a lovely way to unwind and relax during my stay, making the B&B feel even more like a home away from home. In conclusion, my time at Lochview House B&B in Fort William was nothing short of remarkable. From the spotless accommodations and cosy atmosphere to the friendly proprietor and delectable breakfast offerings, this B&B has set a high standard for my future travels. The owner Karen , made us feel extremely welcome . She gave us a map and pointed out places to visit and where to eat . There was a good choice of breakfast options . Rooms were stylish , clean and comfortable. Ample parking. Nothing was too much trouble .

Tips:

Would highly reccomend you book dinner reservations as we had trouble on two of our 3 nights getting anywhere to eat . Fort William isn't a big town , it's all about Ben Nevis (which we didn't do ) however , was a really good location for exploring the surrounding areas .

We had a lovely stay starting with a warm welcome when we arrived and a pot of tea on the beautiful balcony. The room was perfect and the breakfast an absolute treat. Karen is a lovely host and we will go back to Lochview. The hill is quite fierce but we like that!

Black Isle Brewery bar for great beer and pizza. Cafe Mango for delicious curry. Glen Nevis centre for a start point for walks. Walk along the canal from Banavie and have coffee at The Moorings hotel.

An exceptionally clean and comfortable room with ensuite facilities in a well run, friendly guest house made for a perfect base in Fort William. The breakfast menu was varied, tasty and prepared to order - the fruit salad selection was an artwork in itself! The location reflects the name but is up a VERY step road - it can be managed (perhaps once a day) but for those with mobility issues a taxi would be advisable.

Tips:

We dined at the Grog and Gruel and recommend the Stag Pie. The Sharing Cheese Platter at the Highland Cinema was also a tasty meal. The Neptune steps are a nice circular walk from FW; the Jacobite Express is also worth the price. We travelled up by Caledonian Sleeper and hardly slept a wink - despite earplug - so would recommend driving, flying or sitting upright if travelling from further afield.

A first class accommodation with great hosts. The property is very clean and well maintained. There are superb views of Loch Linnhe and the well kept gardens attract some lovely birds which can be viewed from the breakfast room and the external decking. The choice of food for breakfast is exceptional. We would highly recommend Lochview Guest House.

Tips:

The guest house is in an excellent position for views. It is well worth booking a table for evening meals in the local restaurants as they can get very busy. The Jacobite railway trip is well worth doing and there are many great walks in this area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lochview. It was worth the walk up the steep hill for the amazing views (particularly in the breakfast room). The room was clean, tidy, had a very comfortable bed and was well stocked with supplies for drinks and a snack. Karen was really friendly and gave recommendations for places to eat. We were able to get a takeaway pizza one evening and eat it at our table in the breakfast room. The Ben Nevis pub had great food, booking in advance advisable as extremely busy and if you don't mind a more casual approach the Black Isle bar had great pizzas and beers. Eilean Donan castle definitely worth a visit and the white beaches between Mallaig and Arisaig. Arisaig Marine cafe worth popping into if around that area, great cakes and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was amazing, you put your order in the night before along with the time you want breakfast and it is freshly cooked for you, I had the fried breakfast being from a Scotland I am used to them Being deep fried, there was no grease / oil at all ok this breakfast most of it was cooked in the oven and it was gorgeous I will definitely be staying here again

Beautiful guest house in a great location to get wonderful views of the Loch. Luxurious suite with complementary Prosecco and chocolates. Very peaceful and definitely worth a visit to re-charge your batteries. Karen the host was very helpful. There was a good breakfast choice and they were cooked and presented beautifully. A continental breakfast choice is available too.

Tips:

Worth a visit to Neptune's Staircase and if you are lucky you will see a boat coming up the numerous locks. A trip on The Jacobite Express is a must but you must book very well in advance although sometimes the odd ticket can be got at the station. Then a road trip to Glenfinnan to see the viaduct from different viewpoints. Clothing...have some for all weathers. It can get cold in summer too. Good waterproofs, walking boots and a spare pair of shoes are helpful. Eating out at night then book in advance or get there early around 6pm. It gets much busier down the town later. 24 hour parking is available near the Shinty Park opposite Lidl. Up to 10 hours at the Nevis Centre nearby. If you are on the Jacobite pay for a little extra time as our train was held up coming back for 40 minutes due to a late Scotrail service.

Karen and Vince were great hosts. My travel mates booked into the premier inn. This is much better than their choice. The breakfasts are great. Their property is 10 mins walk from the town centre but it is quite a steep climb. The benefits are privacy and views of the Loch.

Tips:

Try the fresh fruit and yogurt starter for breakfast followed by the smoked salmon. So good. Try the Black Isle bar for a large choice of ales/lagers and ciders. Pints are around £6 but worth it for a couple. Pizzas around £14 but pretty good. Weatherspoons guest ale’s we’re £1.49 a pint. 2 pints for less than £3! Motorcycle parking is outside but the location of the property makes it feel safe. If you are on a motorcycle go to the Quiraing on Skye for amazing views and Bealach na ba en route to applecross for more amazing views.

I just stayed one night for work, I was late arriving however they were waiting for me with a warm welcome. My room was compact but had everything I could want/need as bright, modern, had lovely little extras and the most amazing view! Breakfast was excellent, gorgeous dinning room and I was sorry I had to rush away.

Lovely welcoming accommodation. Beautiful views of the Loch. The room was very cosy and exceptionally clean. The added touch of a rubber duck in the shower was cute. The last morning a deer came strolling through the garden which added to the stay.

Tips:

Lots of eateries in the town and shops. A trip on the Jacobite steam train is a must. All the roads are well maintained around the area, great for motorcyclists like us.

Tips:

A car trip to Mallaig from Fort William, seeing the Jacobite Express steam train cross the Glenfinnan viaduct and taking lunch at Sound Bites on the coast in Arisaig, also dinner at the Crannog Seafood Restaurant is an excellent treat.

I was blown away by the hospitality of the owners of Lochview Guest House. The food was amazing and even had gluten free biscuits in the room for me. They were the only accommodation in our 2 week trip to Scotland who noticed I was gluten intolerant prior to the trip and put these little touches in place. They also gave us an anniversary card. Fabulous!

Tips:

Try and book a few days in Fort William as when we travelled both days were foggy, so we missed out on the great view from the guest house and also the views around Ben Nevis. There is lots to fill your time in Fort William.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend. It’s a pity that we couldn’t have stayed longer. I am Coeliac, so require a gluten free diet. Karen went out of her way to ensure that I was well and truly catered for, including gf biscuits in the room.

Tips:

We ate at The Lime Tree., we weren’t terribly impressed.. we felt that it was overpriced for what it was offering. The other restaurant was Browns @Nvis Bank Inn which we would highly recommend. Things to see are:- The Staircase along the Caledonian Canal; The Harry Potter viaduct, particularly if you time it when the steam train is going through. These are on the Mallaig Road. Don’t bother with Millaig itself unless you are getting the ferry to Sky. It’s a lovely run there but not a lot there and parking is horrendous.

Top tip would be don’t expect too much choice on places to eat in Fort William in the evenings. Best to prebook and before 9. One night our only option was MCDonalds as everywhere else was fully booked. Great places to go…. Boat trip to see the seals on Loch Linnhe, The Jacobite steam train aka Hogwarts Express needs booking months in advance though, Loch Ness is only an hours drive, further afield a drive out to Eilean Donan castle- spectacular views

Karen & Vince were the perfect hosts. The Place was immaculate, the room was amazing (Nevis Suite) and the views from both the breakfast room and the decked area were magnificent. Vince makes a fantastic breakfast and Karen is the perfect host, always friendly and great for local advice.

Tips:

The Nevis suite is highly recommended due to the separate living area to the bedroom. Felt like an apartment but we were in a B&B. The Nevis suite doesn't have the views but we spent very little time in there and the extra space we got was invalid. We spent most evenings sat on the decking and in the gardens which gave us the views we needed. Karen gave us some great restaurant recommendations which include the Tandoori Spice (Food was amazing as well as a great atmosphere and decor) Browns (Food was great and decor and layout gave a really nice feel especially for a romantic meal) Ben Nevis Inn was perfect for parking when going up the mountain and we really enjoyed our meal after a long day hiking. The Grog & Gruel is nice if you like a bit of Tex Mex and fair on price. Don't pay £70 for the Jacobite, you can go on a normal train for £15 and see exactly the same when you go over the Glenfinnon Viaduct to Maillaig. While in Maillaig, go over to the Isle of Skye as a foot passenger to Armadale for less than £6 each and enjoy the gardens, Castle and Museums which is within 10 minutes of walking. The boat trip to see the dolphins and seals was good but for £13 per person did seem a bit steep but we did get to see dolphins and seals. There is a boat that goes to Knoydart which has the remotest pub in mainland Britain 'The Forge', be aware, the Forge pub is closed on a Wednesday so Knoydart can be slightly boring without a pub although they do have good walking routes but boat timings will impact on how far you can go.

6th June 2021:

We received a warm and friendly welcome at Lochview and would definitely book there again. We were offered refreshments on arrival, which we enjoyed in the dining room overlooking the Loch, whilst Karen chatted with us and shared her extensive knowledge of what was available to do in the area. When ongoing pandemic restrictions meant our original booking had to be postponed, Karen took the time to ring and discuss an alternative date.

Tips:

We probably should have taken advise to book a restaurant before we arrived. Even though it wasn’t ever so busy, we found the places suggested to eat at (by Karen) were fully booked. We did however, enjoy a pleasant meal in the restaurant at The Highland Cinema in Fort William. The second day we drove to Mallaig and enjoyed very good fish and chips there. Amazing scenery too. We drove everywhere we wanted to go, but we noted that if it had not been quite quiet due to the slow recovery from the pandemic it could have been tricky to park in Fort William itself. Walking into town seemed very do-able, but the walk back was extremely steep. If we had chose to it would have been a short taxi ride. We would stay again both because of the immediate area, and because there is plenty of places we would like to tour to in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lochview. Karen looked after us and made it feel like a home from home. Breakfasts were amazing, with lots of choice of both hot and continental options all prepared to order. You can also get a takeaway breakfast pack if you're headed up to Ben Nevis early. Great location only 5-10 minutes walk to the High Street. There is also free parking right outside on the property. Great views across the Loch as well, very peaceful and a lovely garden with places to sit outside including a terrace although, being October, we didn't use this. There is also a guest lounge with DVDs and board games. Karen also had lots of great tips on local restaurants, where to park for the Ben Nevis climb and knew lots about the area, recommending places to go which were stunning.

Tips:

We liked the food at the Geographer on the High Street and also the next door fish and chip shop Macaris.

Alittle gem if your wanting to explore the beautiful serounding on the west coast of Scotland. This b&b is ideally located at the top of a hill overlooking Loch Linnhe. The Linnhe suite was perfect very clean, cosy, great views with afew added extras everything and more you need. Attention to detail is excellent. Breakfast was delicious, the oweners Karen and Vince are very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to your every need.

Tips:

The road to the Isles trip was a very interesting road trip, it has alittle bit of everything. Ben Nevis, Neptune's staircase, historic monument's, Loch's, a famous viaduct and some beautiful beaches. A trip to Loch Ness is very worth it too. If you don't want to tackle Ben Nevis! there is a mountain Gondola Nevis range, that have cable car's that take you to the top of Aonach Mor mountain, which have great views and some small walks, there is also a cafe which sells lovely food. You can bike from the top all the way to the bottom 750m down if your feeling brave.

100% recomendable.

9th October 2019:

Stunning view from room. Glorious breakfast room. Very comfortable room. Only downside is the walk up hill from town, but the views more than make up for this.

7th October 2019:

Absolutely brilliant stay. Everything perfect. Nothing could be faulted. Thank you.

Tips:

Superb base to explore the north of Scotland. The train trip to Mallaig is stunning. Unless you're a real fan of steam engines, there is no need to book the Jacobite train, you can see all the sights on the much cheaper regular service train. Plenty of fantastic places to eat in and around Fort William.

6th October 2019:

A beautiful place run by great people. Breakfast was extraordinary (freshly cooked!)

Tips:

The high street with its shops and restaurants is just a 10 minute walk away (parts of the way are steep, but it‘s absolutely possible)

3rd October 2019:

Impeccably clean room, comfy beds and good quality linen. We enjoyed the breakfast and views over the Loch. Owners were very helpful and accommodating when our car broke down.

Tips:

Loved Glen Nevis Inn for food and atmosphere.
