We already did a review on google! Because we would recommend you to anyone! A great room with a good bed. Clean and well taken care off. We got a warm welcome and great service with bringing in our luggage! Breakfast was lovely with all the choice you could need. We had a great stay. Would stay again!

Ideal location en route to Skye or the highlands. Very comfortable and well equipped - we have stayed several times in the past . Met the new owners Craig and Emma who are really friendly and helpful and are obviously working hard to provide great service and facilities for their guests - definitely would stay again.

The old station restaurant just round the corner was great for supper or just a drink. Smiddy house provided an excellent breakfast hamper - you can take a lovely walk to the commandos memorial from Smiddys and Ben Nevis is only a few miles away - much nicer place to stay than Fort William!

Our trip to Spean Bridge is to see the Commando Memorial. I’ve chosen the Smiddy Bridge because is close to the station and 20 minutes walk to Commando. Emma was very helpful towards us and pick up us to the station because we arrived at 10pm at night. I feel safe and not worried.We stay in the cottage and I’m very surprise the cottage is very clean ,warm and spacious,bed is very comfortable. I’ve slept well and the bathroom with shower is very good. I recommend the Smiddy House 💯 %. Yolanda from Leeds

If you travel by train and arriving late at night don’t worry just let know Emma and Craig and they pick you up.

Stayed for one night with my mother at Smiddy House. The service by Emma & Craig (And not forgetting the gorgeous Annie) was impeccable. They looked after us very well. Thank you for your warm welcome, and our accommodation was superb despite only being there for 12 hours ! It was appreciated that you were able to provide us with breakfast as we had an extremely early start.

It would be helpful that future travellers were made aware that restaurants , cafés, are very few in Spean Bridge. Fortunately I did know, but to find out from your final instructions about the accommodation 24 hours before is not great.

I had a great stay. The nicest B&B I have ever been. Beautifully decorated rooms. Marvelous hosts (Annie&Craig). Very tasty cooked English breakfast. Nice little bar to relax before going to dinner (I recommend the Old Station restaurant, quite busy, but really great cheescakes. Spean Bridge is s bit out of the way (if you are hiking the Great Glen Way), however, I can recommend to everyone to visit! If I come back to the region, I will certainly choose Smiddys again.

We stayed in a petit double. The room was small (American double bed) but the mattress was very comfortable. Emma and Craig were wonderful hosts and there was a lot of room downstairs to sit and read or visit.

We had dinner at the Station Restaurant (definitely need a reservation) one night - basic food but walking distance, and the Whispering Pine Lodge (Indian and continental) the other night. Both were good. Good hiking at Ben Nevis and Glencoe.

The rooms are immaculate. Everything about Smiddy House is spectacular. The decor is stunning. The breakfast was superb. And to top it off the owners were amazingly helpful and ever so friendly. We could not fault our stay in any way.

We loved the house, the room, everything lovingly decorated, with a lot of attention to detail. The whole facility is spotlessly clean. The hosts were so nice and did for us a laundry service that is normally not part of their offering. The breakfast was amazing and the cherry on the cake is Annie, their lovely dog who thankfully indulged our craving of cuddles as we were missing our own dog.

You have put so much love in your guesthouse and it shows, from the tasteful and relaxing decor to the tasty food. We've had a warm welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Also the only place we have stayed along the Great Glen Way that put our bags in our room for us, that was a nice touch!

The Smiddy House is a beautiful place to stay , the hosts are warm and very friendly, it’s like visiting friends. We stayed in the petite double , clean and pretty decor. Our hosts were very warm, friendly and welcoming. They were responsive to all our questions. The room, as well as the whole building, has recently been renovated, and is very well appointed and absolutely clean. Spacious bathroom. We liked the tea tray next to the bed. Nice breakfast room and the ample choice for breakfast a la carte was splendid. They even got haggis on the menue! We would have liked to stay longer. Highly recommended.

The location, a short drive from Fort William, is ideal especially for Ben Nevis-centered activities. Private Parking space is included.

We were touring Scotland for two weeks and you were a total gem of a find. The The whole stay from beginning to end was prefect. We really loved Annie as the welcoming committee. We would defiantly use you again and have already recommended you to family and friends.

We visited the Commando Memorial just outside of Speen Bridge and would recommended to do this. We also found a lovely restaurant near to Smiddy House the Old Station which is lovely the ambience was great and food was very good, but I would advice to book as they get very busy.

If we could give more than 5 for each of the above then we would. Emma and Craig were the most wonderful hosts, Smiddy House is amazing. We hadn’t stayed in a B&B for decades and this experience was fabulous. We booked it as a stop off on our way to Skye. The room we had was absolutely beautiful, breakfast was delicious and the little bar area is great, there’s outdoor seating too, weather permitting. This is a family run B&B, the family are all there, including little Annie, the most loving little dog you will ever meet. ❤️

We stayed here as a stopover on our way to Skye. Easy access to the highlands, we went to Arisaig And Glenfinnan - where you can see the amazing Jacobite monument and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made even more famous by the Harry Potter films, if timed right you can watch the Jacobite steam train passing over it.

Emma & Craig have a fabulous Guest House in a beautiful area. Accommodation is excellent with lovely decor in the bedrooms. Well stocked bar area and Emma & Craig are excellent hosts and all the family get involved - including Annie….😀 Well prepared and full breakfast of individual choices are served. The local bacon is the nicest we’ve tasted and Craig managed to crisp the bacon to perfection. 👏 Would highly recommend to other travellers

I popped in to book a room on the off chance and had an amazing warm welcome immediately. Emma showed me to a beautiful, spotlessly clean petite double bedroom with a much appreciated shower room en suite. Had a great evening chatting with her and her husband Craig and their friend who was staying then a great breakfast the next morning. Stayed another night in the cottage which was stunning, again spotlessly clean with beautiful decor and such incredible vfm! Another fantastic breakfast cooked exactly to order with local produce.coffee facilities in rooms are not your cheap options. Can't speak highly enough about this place or the wonderful owners and family who made my work trip feel like a home from home. No hesitation in recommending...book as soon as you can! From a pop in off road I left knowing I'd be back in a heartbeat!

Walked the High Bridge route to the monument...watch out for the sheep!

Two local restaurants limited and variable. 1 empty (with good reason) and 1 completely run off their feet with lack of staff. Didn't make for a relaxing evening meal but grateful we didn't have to get back in the car to look for a meal.

Owners really friendly, room lovely and clean. Modern and fresh feel with some higher end bathroom soaps, shampoo etc. Breakfast was tasty, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Plenty of parking round back, easy to find and a comfy stay all in all. Thank you!

The station Inn was a really great restaurant for dinner. Follow the signs...but the owners know where it is for directions too! Local spar shop stocks most things.

Craig and Emma were so kind and helpful and the property was lovely. Perfect location for our purposes. Our breakfast was delicious and service was excellent all around. I know they just took over but feel Smiddy House is in excellent hands.

The old train station at Spean Bridge is a must for Harry Potter fans and a great little place for dinner or a drink in the bar. There’s a nice nature trail behind the station as well if you could do with a walk. You’ll also find a little convenience/general store right on the route from Smiddy House in case you need any essentials.

Robert is an excellent host who obviously enjoys looking after his guests and ensuring that they have a great stay - nothing is too much trouble. The food was amazing, every course was superb. The venison was so good I had to have it two nights in a row! The restaurant has a nice, relaxed atmosphere - we really enjoyed chatting to other residents and sharing stories about what we had all done during the day.

You will love the food here - it's not just the best that you will find in Scotland, I think it's the best you will find anywhere!

Lovely accommodation, maintained to a high standard, and with all the in-room facilities one would want and need. But the major difference between other competitors and The Smiddy is the quality of service provision and the excellence of the cookery. Staff are considerate and friendly, and are good sources of local knowledge, and the food was amazing. Using as much local produce as possible every meal was prepared to a consistently high standard, with meticulous attention to detail. Robert and Glenn have obviously worked really hard to develop and maintain this excellent establishment. The real litmus test of any Highland 'rural' restaurant is the number of local people who use it. Whilst we were there we spoke with numerous locals all enjoying the abundant local produce that is available in Lochaber. Bottom line, lovely owners, great experience!

Lochaber is literally dripping with history. A simple walk along the River Spean gorge, straight out the front door, will take you through over hundred years of industrial/social history thats 'visible' in the old railway infrastructure along the river, but which simply overlays thousands of years of human history in the area.

An enchanted interlude at Glen and Robert's! We only stayed one evening and one night but everything was perfect. The dinner prepared by Glen was delicious, fresh and local products very well cooked: lamb with herbs, monkeyfish, ... The breakfast was exceptional with an incredible Isle of Skye salmon! Robert welcomed and served us with great humour and we had a wonderful evening thanks to him. The room and suite were very comfortable, the bedding extremely nice, lots of products in the bathroom. In short, a welcoming, gourmet and very thoughtful stay! Go there with your eyes closed!

We visited just for dinner in April and loved it so much came back and stayed. We chose petite double room - it is petite but lovely and a great shower (especially after long day hiking!). The food once again didn’t disappoint and a great breakfast - fresh fruit salad was so fresh, lovely soft pancakes, great eggs - something for everyone. Robert & Glenn do an amazing job looking after everyone.

There isn’t much in Spean Bridge from a shops/bars etc but it’s a great place for visiting the surrounding hills and for walking/cycling.

We did a lot of walking in the area (which is superb) but for something different We drove to the Glen Roy viewpoint on the way home (including 'parallel roads'). Would highly recommend and its definitely worth the 4 mile drive down the windy single track road!

We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely recommend it to others. From start to finish, I really cannot fault anything about our experience, the owners really have thought of everything. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you could need. The food is exceptional, both the evening meals and the breakfast were amazing. Lovely drinks menu too. The hosts really do go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Overall I would rate this hotel and restaurant very highly and it is very good value for what you get. A little gem of a place!

The food at the hotel is faultless so I would certainly recommend eating there. The location is lovely, walking distance from local shop and nice walks by the river.

We got tea and some freshly baked cakes when we arrived which was really nice. The food was incredible with locally sourced ingredients. We stayed at Smiddy House on our way back from a holiday in the Outer Hebrides. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. It is perfectly placed as a stop while travelling the West Coast but is near many major attractions itself. It is a great place to stay!

WOW, that’s how we were made to feel from the moment we entered the Smiddy House to the moment we left. Absolutely spotless clean from top to toe, the room was immaculate, well dressed, and bed was so comfortable. As busy professionals, we just wanted somewhere to take time out, wind down, chill out for a few days and eat good food all of the above met and exceeded by the team at Smiddy House. Robert looked after us from the minute we arrived to the moment we left, always on hand to give advice about the local attractions to the wine in the evening. Oh, and the food at Russel’s restaurant was spectacular, local fresh produce, excellent quality and very tasty. This is, without doubt, a hidden gem in the highlands and comes highly recommended; I would give this place a 5-star rating all day long. A lovely relaxing stay , Robert made us feel very welcome and our room was really comfortable.
