This is an exceptional b&b owned by a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome. We would certainly recommend it to anyone walking the great glen.

Request the pick up and drop off at Gairlochy. The Old Station restaurant is excellent.

A beautiful B&B. Room was spotless, comfortable and equipped with everything you’d need. A comfy bed, we slept very well. There were choices to suit every taste at breakfast and even bar facilities for the evening if you choose. Would definitely recommend and choose to stay again.

The old station restaurant was within a 5 min walk and great home cooked food with a good atmosphere. Book as it was very busy.

We stayed at Smiddy House for 2 days celebrating my partners 70th birthday. Emma and Craig were fantastic hosts who couldn't do enough to help. The room was beautiful and the hotel spotless. The location was ideal for exploring Scotland. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone.

I love this B&B. The owner was very kindly and all was very clean and nice. So, if I would have to say anything else, would be that the check out time must be before 10 and I would have liked to be a litter later. This is not very important but we would have appreciated it.

Stayed for 3 nights in cottage, so comfortable and cosy and in a great location for what we were looking to do in the local area. Great hosts, really friendly and helpful and cook a great breakfast!

Although cottage is very well equipped it is not completely equipped for self catering so just helpful to have a few extra grocery bits with you.

What a lovely place! The interior has been renovated and decorated to the highest standard giving a charming and elegant feel from public areas to the bedroom I stayed in. Everything is scrupulously clean and tidy. The hosts are engaging and friendly with nothing too much trouble. What can I say about breakfast? Just delicious, copious and perfectly presented. Thank you Emma and Craig (not forgetting the adorable Annie) I’ll recommend you unhesitatingly and hope to see you again.

Spean Bridge has everything you need. I’d advise booking dinner ahead since the eateries get very busy and thise that hadn’t had something of await for a table

We loved our stay with Emma and Craig at Smiddy House. We were welcomed warmly and shown our rooms. They were spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, and well-outfitted with everything you might need. They even had my favorite Scottish soaps. They offered bar service in the lounge, gave recommendations for dinner, and provided a full breakfast in the morning. It was a great stay and do glad we chose Smiddy House.

If you call ahead to Smiddy House you may be able to get a taxi from the lochs at Gairlochy to Smiddy House (and back). If you are walking the Great Glen Way, this saves the additional 3 miles on a busy road into Spean Bridge. We appreciated this so much. And, when we started back on the trail on the wrong side of the canal, Craig came after us to help us in the right direction. How that helped save extra steps on what was for us a 17 mile day.

Thouroughly enjoyable overnight spent in the well- appointed and lovely Oban room which supplief everything needed for our stay. Most impressed with Emma, such a kind and sociable hostess , and with the property’s central location and available parking. We’d highly recommend the Smiddy House and will definitely book it again for any future trips !

The B&B is on the main road so don’t follow the Satnav - it takes you off to the right ! Pre- book an evening meal out since Spean Bridge can be exceptionally busy - we like the Station Restaurant which has a varied menu and lovely staff.

Stayed in the Annex which is a self contained unit. Our hosts were very good and went out of their way to provide us with an excellent stay. Lovely spot to take a break.

The upstairs is accessed via spiral staircase so not for those with limited mobility and would be better having some footwear as dimples on the stairs. Hosts will provide a transfer to Gairlochy for £5 for those on the Great Glen Way.

I can't say enough good things. It was a quick trip through Spean Bridge for me as I was solo traveling across Scotland so I regret not being able to stay longer. I do know I will be back in the future, likely with my family. Smiddy House is one of those B&Bs that have gotten everything right. Ideal location en route to Skye or the highlands. Very comfortable and well equipped - we have stayed several times in the past . Met the new owners Craig and Emma who are really friendly and helpful and are obviously working hard to provide great service and facilities for their guests - definitely would stay again.

The old station restaurant just round the corner was great for supper or just a drink. Smiddy house provided an excellent breakfast hamper - you can take a lovely walk to the commandos memorial from Smiddys and Ben Nevis is only a few miles away - much nicer place to stay than Fort William!

Our trip to Spean Bridge is to see the Commando Memorial. I’ve chosen the Smiddy Bridge because is close to the station and 20 minutes walk to Commando. Emma was very helpful towards us and pick up us to the station because we arrived at 10pm at night. I feel safe and not worried.We stay in the cottage and I’m very surprise the cottage is very clean ,warm and spacious,bed is very comfortable. I’ve slept well and the bathroom with shower is very good. I recommend the Smiddy House 💯 %. Yolanda from Leeds

Thank you for your warm welcome, and our accommodation was superb despite only being there for 12 hours ! It was appreciated that you were able to provide us with breakfast as we had an extremely early start.

It would be helpful that future travellers were made aware that restaurants , cafés, are very few in Spean Bridge. Fortunately I did know, but to find out from your final instructions about the accommodation 24 hours before is not great.

I had a great stay. The nicest B&B I have ever been. Beautifully decorated rooms. Marvelous hosts (Annie&Craig). Very tasty cooked English breakfast. Nice little bar to relax before going to dinner (I recommend the Old Station restaurant, quite busy, but really great cheescakes. Spean Bridge is s bit out of the way (if you are hiking the Great Glen Way), however, I can recommend to everyone to visit! If I come back to the region, I will certainly choose Smiddys again.

We loved the house, the room, everything lovingly decorated, with a lot of attention to detail. The whole facility is spotlessly clean. The hosts were so nice and did for us a laundry service that is normally not part of their offering. The breakfast was amazing and the cherry on the cake is Annie, their lovely dog who thankfully indulged our craving of cuddles as we were missing our own dog.

The Smiddy House is a beautiful place to stay , the hosts are warm and very friendly, it’s like visiting friends. We stayed in the petite double , clean and pretty decor. Our friends stayed in the cottage and that was amazing, I would definitely go back again , the breakfast was really tasty and plenty of it,look out for Annie their dog, so well behaved and friendly.

Our hosts were very warm, friendly and welcoming. They were responsive to all our questions. The room, as well as the whole building, has recently been renovated, and is very well appointed and absolutely clean. Spacious bathroom. We liked the tea tray next to the bed. Nice breakfast room and the ample choice for breakfast a la carte was splendid. They even got haggis on the menue! We would have liked to stay longer. Highly recommended.

The location, a short drive from Fort William, is ideal especially for Ben Nevis-centered activities. Private Parking space is included.

We were touring Scotland for two weeks and you were a total gem of a find. The The whole stay from beginning to end was prefect. We really loved Annie as the welcoming committee. We would defiantly use you again and have already recommended you to family and friends.

We visited the Commando Memorial just outside of Speen Bridge and would recommended to do this. We also found a lovely restaurant near to Smiddy House the Old Station which is lovely the ambience was great and food was very good, but I would advice to book as they get very busy.

If we could give more than 5 for each of the above then we would. Emma and Craig were the most wonderful hosts, Smiddy House is amazing. We hadn’t stayed in a B&B for decades and this experience was fabulous. We booked it as a stop off on our way to Skye. The room we had was absolutely beautiful, breakfast was delicious and the little bar area is great, there’s outdoor seating too, weather permitting. This is a family run B&B, the family are all there, including little Annie, the most loving little dog you will ever meet. ❤️

We stayed here as a stopover on our way to Skye. Easy access to the highlands, we went to Arisaig And Glenfinnan - where you can see the amazing Jacobite monument and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made even more famous by the Harry Potter films, if timed right you can watch the Jacobite steam train passing over it.

Emma & Craig have a fabulous Guest House in a beautiful area. Accommodation is excellent with lovely decor in the bedrooms. Well stocked bar area and Emma & Craig are excellent hosts and all the family get involved - including Annie….😀 Well prepared and full breakfast of individual choices are served. The local bacon is the nicest we’ve tasted and Craig managed to crisp the bacon to perfection. 👏 Would highly recommend to other travellers

We had dinner in the Old Station Restaurant in Spean Bridge which is just a short walk from Smiddy House. Great choice of food and well served with good portions. Staff excellent also.

I popped in to book a room on the off chance and had an amazing warm welcome immediately. Emma showed me to a beautiful, spotlessly clean petite double bedroom with a much appreciated shower room en suite. Had a great evening chatting with her and her husband Craig and their friend who was staying then a great breakfast the next morning. Stayed another night in the cottage which was stunning, again spotlessly clean with beautiful decor and such incredible vfm! Another fantastic breakfast cooked exactly to order with local produce.coffee facilities in rooms are not your cheap options. Can't speak highly enough about this place or the wonderful owners and family who made my work trip feel like a home from home. No hesitation in recommending...book as soon as you can! From a pop in off road I left knowing I'd be back in a heartbeat!

Walked the High Bridge route to the monument...watch out for the sheep!

Friendly comfortable stay

Two local restaurants limited and variable. 1 empty (with good reason) and 1 completely run off their feet with lack of staff. Didn't make for a relaxing evening meal but grateful we didn't have to get back in the car to look for a meal.

Owners really friendly, room lovely and clean. Modern and fresh feel with some higher end bathroom soaps, shampoo etc. Breakfast was tasty, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Plenty of parking round back, easy to find and a comfy stay all in all. Thank you!

The station Inn was a really great restaurant for dinner. Follow the signs...but the owners know where it is for directions too! Local spar shop stocks most things.

Craig and Emma were so kind and helpful and the property was lovely. Perfect location for our purposes. Our breakfast was delicious and service was excellent all around. I know they just took over but feel Smiddy House is in excellent hands.

The old train station at Spean Bridge is a must for Harry Potter fans and a great little place for dinner or a drink in the bar. There’s a nice nature trail behind the station as well if you could do with a walk. You’ll also find a little convenience/general store right on the route from Smiddy House in case you need any essentials.

Cleanliness, food and comfort of the bed were all excellent. The room wasn’t big but it was adequate. If I had to look for a fault it was feeling under pressure to spend more money. We were expected to eat at the hotel for at least one night of the stay, we were expected to order at least two courses and were expected to tip for service even though it was the boss who was serving us. It was an enjoyable stay and it was faultless apart from feeling a little under pressure to spend.

It states on our website, as a Restaurant with rooms we ask our guests to eat with us. Our menu states a minimum of 2 courses, allowing the guest to make an informed choice before booking. With regards to gratuities it also states on the menu that gratuities are at your discretion. Many guest ask whether gratuities are included. Gratuities are shared amongst kitchen and front of house staff. There is no expectation for any our guests to tip.
