Everything was perfect with our stay! We appreciated all the comforts, the cleanliness and your kindness. There’s really nothing we would change. Thank you for everything!

The perfect location for Fort William and hiking. We absolutely loved staying here and would highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone. The breakfast treats were so lovely and were greatfully received after all the walking.
Tips:Sonas and the Indian restaurant next to it were the best two restaurants in town. Waterproofs are your best friend. Be prepared for all seasons in a day. Don’t forget your gloves if going up the Ben

We loved our room at the Willows! It was such a great landing place for us in our travels through Scotland. Very homey and comfortable, clean and tidy. The treats, teas and coffee were very generous and were enjoyed after a morning of hiking. The small touches such as the fridge, espresso, bathroom soaps, laundry and ear plugs made our stay feel extra deluxe. I would highly recommend the Willows to anyone traveling to Fort William and will stay again if we find ourselves in Scotland again. Many thanks, Olivia and Ryan from Milwaukee, USA

We had a lovely stay! The room was so comfortable and clean, and beautiful views of the lake. The location was great too, close enough to town but quiet and peaceful. Everything was perfect! :)
Tips:Only a 30 minute drive to the Signal Rock hike in Glencoe, which was so beautiful. And a 30 minute drive in the other direction to the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which was very crowded, but worth it to see the steam train and beautiful scenery. We only had two days, but we definitely want to come back and explore more.

27th June 2024:
The Willows was a lovely place to stay. The view of Loch Linnie from our room was spectacular. We took the Citylink bus from Oban. There is a bus stop right across the street from The Willows, very convenient. Nic was a perfect host. She had recommendations for us of where to eat. Our planned activities were pretty well set, but she offered additional ideas. She also offered (for an extremely reasonable price) to do our laundry, so we were able to tour around as we had planned. The bus and train stations are within easy walking distance, although if you have significant luggage, a taxi would be a good idea. Instead of calling us a taxi on our last morning, she kindly offered to drive us to the bus station.
Tips:We took a Citylink bus to and from the castle at Eileen Donan. Traveling was very easy, and the castle was very interesting. We also took the Jacobite Express train to Maillaig. We recommend getting the Jacobite Cream Tea, Option A and a bottle of champagne. It's a trip worth celebrating!

Booked at very short notice through Tourist Information. Nic was very helpful and friendly at all times and it was clearly explained this was accommodation only with no formal breakfast. The annexe accommodation is of an excellent standard and couldn't be faulted. It has it's own parking space.
Tips:A 15 minute relaxed walk took us to and from the town centre which has a plethora of eating places. We opted for the Ben Nevis Inn on the main street which was excellent in terms of quality and choice of pub style food, a wide array of drinks both national and local and enhanced by a lively Friday night ambience. The reason for our visit was the Jacobite Railway experience which was fantastic and highly recommended.

Great location, walking distance to the centre of town. Great selection of snacks provided for breakfast. Tea and Coffee making facilities very good. Provision of a small fridge in the room was really handy. Excellent bed and bedding made for a really comfortable stay.
Tips:10 minute walk to town centre with plenty of restaurants available. They were, however, very busy so don't leave it too late to get a table. Made use of the Jacobite Train journey to Mallaig, stunning scenery and well worth booking (when available)

Our room at The Willows exceeded our expectations. Everything was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious and well appointed. There was plenty of space for luggage and personal items. The toiletries were lovely. The breakfast snacks provided in the room were great. There were dishes and cutlery to use. I would highly recommend The Willows to everyone!

We stayed in the annex for a couple of nights and it was excellent. Really clean, large room with fridge, breakfast porridge etc left for us along with water and Cereal bars, basically brand new bathroom and parking right outside. Friendly owner a d good location with 10 minute walk alongside the loch into town.
Tips:We really enjoyed the evening cruise on loch Linnhe, walked along some of the great Glen way to Neptune's staircase. Lots of pubs in the town for a meal.

We loved the Willows! Our only regret was that we didn't get to spend more time there. The Annex was so comfortable and Nic was a great ambassador for the Inn and the area. The spacious shower was wonderful after a day on the trails and so was the huge bed! We'll be back!
Tips:The Willows sends out a handy e-travel guide for the area that I found really handy. We wound up booking a tour from it and would have done more if we'd had the time.

Short walk to pedestrian walking mall lined with stores of all sorts, museums and food options. Ample parking, with easy in/out from main road, the noise from which is not an issue inside rooms. The rooms themselves are well thought out, providing everything you might need, including a generous coffee/tea/light breakfast needs. Linens and towels all particularly nice. Hosts are easily accessed, very pleasant and helpful regarding large variety of possible questions, but leave you your privacy as desired.

The location is superb on the banks of the loch. Our room was very homely and with rain lashing outside it was great to have a smart TV and catch up on favourite shows! The breakfast items provided were more than adequate for us.
Tips:We did find that we had to queue for food in the evening even at pubs. We ate at the tavern which was great and service was quick so tables turned over fast. We went to the west highlands museum in town as the weather was so bad but actually found it much more interesting than I expected.

We were only in for a one night stay but wouldn’t hesitate to stay longer if we ever needed to. The room was lovely with a great view of the loch from the front window (room 4). Exceedingly spacious, a good smart TV to kick back to and very comfortable bed. We only had a small interaction with the host on arrival but they were welcoming and offered advice if needed. We really enjoyed our stay - it was perfect for us and we liked the free to book option. The bedroom and bathroom were well equipped and we really appreciated the coffee, tea and breakfast snacks. We were hillwalking, so that helped us get going in the morning. We also loved the tables outside where we could sit and enjoy a cup of tea with a view. We weren't expecting to have new towels on the 2nd day, so maybe it's worth giving guests the option? Lots of hotels have a "towels on the floor" sign so guests can indicate if they want new towels(might save you some work?)
Tips:Fort William was busy, but we found a good fish and chip shop on our 2nd evening - Sammys in Caol, where we could eat our supper outside looking out across the loch and up to the Ben.

Exceeded expectations. Breakfast provided was more than sufficient. Rooms being "made up" every day was unexpected since many hotels these days (such as Premier Inn) only do this upon request. Location ideal with view across the loch while being a comfortable walk from town. More than ample off-street parking.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Our room was lovely and large, comfortable and clean with lots of thoughtful touches. Spacious bathroom, extra supplies and amenities made it an easy stay for us. As our youngest said, "better then premier inn!"

A very good location as it is situated opposite Loch Linnhe. The room is spotless, the towels are changed everyday. The bed is very comfortable. The guest house is very convenient as it is a walking distance to the high street, morissons, bus and train station.
Tips:An hour walk to the Great Glen path, it is refreshing to walk through field with a flock sheep (first time I’ve seen a black sheep), we caught a glimpse of an otter by the river and seeing the Nevis range from a distance. The Highland Museum is worth visiting as they have a good collection of memorabilia.

Such obvious care had been taken to make the annexe a really warm and inviting place to stay in. Everything was provided - plates, cutlery and even a microwave and fridge. We loved our stay at The Willows! Nic & Paul were there any time we needed them, and they’re always willing to help. The room was immaculately clean and spacious. They serviced the room everyday which was very nice. They aren’t doing breakfast services at the moment, but we had great coffee and snacks in the room. Location was great for Jacobite train as well as a stop near Glencoe. We would recommend a stay there to anyone, we really enjoyed it.
Tips:Absolutely loved dinner at Crannog. The food was exceptional; best food on our trip around Scotland. They do require reservations and are currently closed Mon & Tue.

Welcoming and comfortable. We felt very well taken care of, and the room was excellent - very well put together down to details like USB ports, range of teas aside from English Breakfast, very useful guide on good places to eat etc. We had a lovely stay.
Tips:Eating and drinking: Black Isle Bar (great pizza and craft beer), Grog & Gruel (very friendly). Walking: Cow Hill trail, Glen Nevis walk to Steal Falls (loved this - great for a bit of rock scrambling but not too challenging in terms of elevation). The Jacobite steam train to Mallaig was fantastic; great fish & chips from the chippy at Mallaig station.

Most of the accommodation in Fort William fronts onto the A82, which is a fairly busy road. We had the annex room in The Willows, which is a very nice self-contained and private unit, and the windows face to the side, so the road noise was less intrusive than for many. We had a big and very convenient parking space. The walk into town is straightforward and flat. It was a good-sized room with a very large double bed, space to sit and an ensuite bathroom. Everything seemed very clean. Because of Covid, breakfast wasn't provided although there was a small selection of foods left for us. But, most usefully, there was a small microwave and fridge in the room together with crockery and cutlery, which meant that we could sort out our own food easily - this was a big plus.

By far the nicest B&B I have ever stayed in. It was impeccably clean and beautiful. I would recommend it to anybody even the Queen herself. It made our stay extra special. The views are amazing, and it's just a 5 minute walk from all the pubs.
Tips:If you're staying to climb Ben Nevis, be mindful that not all rooms have got a bathtub. Ours didn't have one, and it would have been nice to relax our muscles after the climb, but the walk in shower was a nice way to freshen up.

Convenient easy parking on site. Really appreciated the comfort and large room size of The Annex and the king sized bed. Ensuite was spacious and included useful quality toiletries. Shower water pressure was excellent. There is a small fridge and microwave in the room which would be useful if staying more than one night. Paul and Nic are very friendly and helpful.
Tips:Easy walk in to town centre for dinner. We enjoyed our dinner at the Garrison West in town. The walk to The Hidden Valley at Glen Coe before Fort William is a must. 3 hour return walk.

Great B&B, run by a lovely family who went out of the way to help us. We stay at the willows for a charity walk up Ben Nevis and had to leave for the walk before breakfast time. We where given two trays of breakfast food, including a jug of milk, jug of orange juice and a toaster so we could have something to eat before our hike. The owners are very friendly and outgoing, we stayed in their converted garage/double room and it excelled our expectations! Massive king size bed (very comfortable), usb plug sockets throughout, big smart tv and a microwave and mini fridge. Would 100% stay again!
Tips:We didn’t really look around Fort William, as we were there only for two nights and it was for a charity hike up Ben Nevis. How ever the drive in was spectacular, with breathtaking views and the willows is situated right in front of a loch with picturesque mountains backdrop!

We had room 6 which is an annexe out with the main house. it was excellent - very spacious and provided more privacy and also had a microwave and fridge. The owners were friendly and laid back. The level of cleanliness was exceptional. the breakfast was by far the best in Scotland (salmon and scrambled eggs). If we return to the area this will definitely be our first choice for accommodation.

There are no words to truly describe how lovely our stay at The Willows was. The room and adjoining ensuite was bright, clean, modern and had the most amazing smelling toiletries for your own use. Good water pressure at the shower as well. Towels were refreshed daily. There was a kettle and small fridge in the room as well which was great for travelling with two children and meant I could get fruit and pot noodles for snacks in the evening if anyone got hungry. Room also had a TV and a hairdryer. All bases covered. Breakfast had a brilliant selection and you were able to choose from both the cooked breakfast and the buffet which covered everything. I can truthfully say I've never tasted better scrambled egg or mushrooms and I've had a lot of cooked breakfasts whilst staying away from home. I'd go back just for that alone. Overall the whole house was clean, quiet and willing to do anything they could to help. The view over the Loch from the dining was utterly breathe taking and we have already discussed going back to The Willows and recommended it to family.
Tips:The Jacobite is a wonderful experience. Just to see more of the scenery along the way. If you aren't particular to seafood you are best to have a car so you can travel slightly further afield, however it isn't a far walking distance to the high street.

We stayed with Nic and Paul at The Willows for three nights, in their large four bed family room, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The high standard B&B facilities (room standard, large and modern "en suite", fast wifi, the breakfast selection and quality of breakfast cooking) made this one of the places, we were sorry to leave.
Tips:The Willow is within walking distance to everything in Fort William. We also used it as our base for a train ride to Mallaig (the Harry Potter bridge - if historic train is not an option, Scottish Rail runs the same tracks) combined with a ferry day-trip from Mallaig to the Isle of Rum. Equally, Ben Nevis is easy to reach; and the family "hike" along the base of the mountain from the Ben Nevis Parking (end of the road) to the waterfall 1 hour into the Glen is recommendable.

21st July 2017:
we had a wonderful stay with our 2 grand daughters, we all enjoyed the family room, rabbits and dogs and cat. the children felt completely at home and Nicola went to the trouble of putting in a new video recorder in for the girls. Nicola's Husband was extremely attentive with his knowledge of the area. He was also an excellent cook and host. We would certainly go back and recommend to others.
Tips:The views from the Guest house were stunning. The Jacobite steam train is a must, As was our trip by cable car to the top of Ben Nevis. Abe's take away in the town was busy and value for money with from Pizza, kebabs. fish and chips and more on offer was good food.

So welcoming and the location walking distance to town is perfect. Bright and clean rooms with dark curtains. Appreciate the small fridge to keep our traveling snacks. Kids loved visiting the rabbits out back.
Tips:Grog and Gruel was yummy. Hike or even just drive up to Glen Nevis. Most beautiful hike of our trip and the drive approach was beautiful too. The wire bridge was a little scary but we all made it across. Even our 9 year old who could only reach one of the hand wires.

We had a stand along room with a private entrance. Very comfortable bed, microwave and small fridge. Paul made us a delicious breakfast every morning and his wife was kind enough to drive us into town twice while we were there. It is right on the Loch with a great view! We highly recommend The Willows!
Tips:The Jacobite Train or as some call it the Harry Potter Train is great!

Absolutely perfect for a one night stay so we could ride the Jacobite steam train. 3 of us stayed in the family room (2 singles and a large king) upstairs overlooking the loch. Comfortable beds, quiet, and immaculate. Lovely bathroom and extras like hairdryer, mini-fridge, coffee, tea and kit-kats and good wi-fi. The stairs are steep. The breakfast is excellent (I recommend the salmon eggs!) It was a quick walk into town along the waterfront with lots of shops bars and restaurants. Thank-you Paul!

Very friendly hosts, the annexe was spotlessly clean, the facilities were excellent with a very good selection of coffee, tea, sugar and a teapot. Liked the extra little touch of the jar of sweets. Having the fridge was an extra bonus and even though we didn't use the microwave again it is a bonus. The bed very spacious and comfortable and the furniture very good quality. The en-suite very good size with plentiful hand gel, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion along with the thick white fluffy towels. The breakfast was excellent with a varied selection both with the buffet and hot foot which was served hot. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend you to anyone travelling to Fort William.
Tips:The main reason for our stay was a trip on the Steam train to Mallaig via Glenfinnan viaduct which we greatly enjoyed. We would recommend Wotherspoon restaurant and Cafe 115 for a reasonable priced meal and friendly service.

We felt very much at home in a relaxed, family environment with friendly, helpful hosts who also allowed us time and space to ourselves. The accommodation was excellent with more than adequate extras (soaps, shower gel, tea bags, fridge etc) and the breakfast was plentiful, of excellent quality and prepared to a very high standard.
Tips:We didn't have time to explore much ourselves, but would recommend to friends and family, some lovely walks, a good variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, and proximity to public transport and main routes to scenic destinations.

Lovely B&B, friendly welcome. Spotlessly clean, the biggest selection of breakfast foods that I have ever seen in the buffet! There are various animals living here - my grandchildren loved seeing them and were taken twice to visit the rabbits. Highly recommended!

Really nice place, great location for Fort William town centre and 3 miles from the Ben Nevis climb start which has plenty of parking so a quick 5 minute drive away...or a steady walk to warm you up for the climb! Sitting on the front of the B & B with a nice cup of tea after the climb, looking over the Loch was terrific.
Tips:Fort William Town has plenty of cheap bars and restaurants. We drove to Loch Ness one evening, only 30 miles to Fort Augustus with some nice pubs, Loch Ness tours and the Locks of the Caledonian canal.

Though I only actually 'met' Paul', and he's a great cook, by the way, I believe I talked to his wife 'Nic' coming out of my room one day, and she was so sweet! Excellent B&B. Breakfast was amazing, very well presented and tasted delicious. Beds were the best I've slept on very comfortable. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Paul helped us carry our cases to our room. Rooms were cleaned and towels were changed everyday. Absolutely nothing to fault. Fantastic thank you. Would definately stay again and recommend to friends and family.
Tips:The B&B is in a great location central to everything. Shops and restaurants close by. My dad couldn't walk well so drove to town centre which took less than 2 minutes. Free parking on the pier after 6pm. We went on the Jacobite Steam train which departed from fort William station just 3 minutes from the B&B by car. Morrisons, lidl and macDonalds next to station.

Our room was tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped. I loved the thoughtful touches such as the Kit Kats on the hospitality tray and the pot of cotton buds etc in the bathroom. The parking space was ideally located. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of fresh fruit as well as items cooked to order. Easily the best B&B we've stayed in during the last ten years.
Tips:Take the train to Mallaig on a sunny day - the scenery is stunning.

The Willows is lovely. Impeccably clean. We enjoyed the hosts and spent three nights there (in 2 different rooms due to booking the nights at different times). Food was fabulous - enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast and the smoked salmon with eggs.
Tips:The Willows is about a mile from the centre of town. We enjoyed the walk along the loch to/from the town centre for dinner and drinks but it might be a wee bit far for others. Of course, driving is always an option. View of the loch from the breakfast room is quite nice.

This is our first visit to Fort William, with the intention to climb Ben Nevis, and The Willows was the perfect place to stay for us. We were a group of 4, and arrived very late on our first night, but were were still made very welcome. We are very grateful to Paul for this, and found his hospitality second to none. We had a great room with a great view. Very clean rooms, and well stocked- the KitKat bars are a nice touch :) We were spoilt for breakfast, with a choice of times to be served and a menu to chose from (as well as a large selection of extras on a side table). Thank you for the hot chocolates! I have to say, one of the best breakfasts I have had anywhere, and well needed before and after conquering the Ben. Will hopefully be back soon!
Tips:Ben Nevis! We parked at Glen Nevis car park, which is only a few minutes away from The Willows, and made our way up from there. The nearby gondola (as advised by Paul). Skiing still possible at the time we went!

In fact avoid at weekend if at all possible - scores of very slow people who clearly have no intention of going to the summit blocking the path.

We think the overall accommodation was good, except the shower water pressure wasn't strong enough. I would appreciate if you could kindly email me a receipt for the stay on 22nd June which I have forgotten to ask, many thanks.
Tips:We went to the India Restaurant for dinner, the food was good but I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant.

Tips:This was my first experience in B&B. Me my wife and 2 year old daughter enjoyed our stay more than any other hotel we stayed during our visit to Scotland. Excellent location facing beautiful river. Please try and get room facing river. They have got 2 lovely Rabits to welcome kids. :)

I would highly recommend staying at the Williows, the people that run it are very friendly and helpful. Great food each morning for breakfast! They are very accommodating! Easy walking distance to the shops downtown. There's ample parking in front. Great views!! I would most definitely stay again!!!
Tips:We did the Jacobite train trip and shopping. If you are into hiking you can climb the mountain Ben Nevis.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Willows. Our room was lovely, spacious and beautifully decorated. Attention to detail was great, with binoculars even provided to see more of the great view out our room window and out the window at breakfast. Breakfast was delicious, and we loved the fact we could choose from a number of serving times from 7 - 10! Clean rooms, great service and very friendly staff/owners. We loved it and would definitely stay again.

The Willows is a fantastic B&B at Fort William. The family rooms which sleep 4 are the real USPof the place as it is so hard to find them. The rooms were very neat, clean and spacious and had added amenities like toiletries, hairdryer and TV. There was a large spread for breakfast with buffet options and a hot breakfast as well. Would recommend it to anyone with families.
